Small 3G phone...?
Options
I'm trying to help a friend who just got a £60 phone bill. I've seen a few good SIM-only deals, but they require 3G.
My friend currently has an old-style 2G Nokia, which he likes. He has absolutely no interest in getting a smartphone. He wouldn't use the features, but the main reason he doesn't want one is that they're so big.
So... smartphone or not, does anyone know of a small 3G phone with decent call quality? All the ones I've found so far have big touch-screens. :-/

Here ya go: ebay.co.uk/itm/Lebara-KAZAM-Life-B5-2-4-Inch-3G-Mobile-Phone-Black-/351702994899
Should be unlocked.0 -
Ohh -- that's a similar size, but the price is much better.
But I just saw in this review that it doesn't support predictive text (what?!).

I'll definitely suggest it, but I think the lack of predictive text would be a deal-breaker. Thanks for the suggestion, though.0 -
Just because the phone says 3G doesn't mean your friends (I assume 2G) sim won't work on it, it just means they won't get 3G internet. Maybe your friend needs to look into why they got a £60 bill. Tesco mobile do capped contracts (which means you can set a max spend, and your phone bill won't go over that). Or they might want to consider going pay as you go, there is some pretty good pay as you go sim deals out there.0

Er... which phone?
Anyway, with £60 phone bills incoming, I think it will be worth changing the SIM! The only reason for getting a new phone is that the SIMs he's looking at require 3G.Maybe your friend needs to look into why they got a £60 bill. It's probably going to be easiest to go for an unlimited minutes/texts deal as they're so cheap. PAYG works out really expensive when I've looked into it.
The only difficulty I've had is in finding a small, basic 3G phone to work with the new SIM.0 -
Has he/you looked into if its worth them getting a sim with unlimited minutes/texts deal or getting a sim from say Tesco Mobile where you can cap the contract.0

Well, Three have a £9 a month unlimited deal at the moment, and they're giving a generous cashback on Quidco, bringing the line-rental to less than £5 a month for the year.
My friend wouldn't want a capped contract if that means that he won't be able to make calls/texts if he hits a limit.
Any ideas on a small 3G phone?0 -
You can find on ebay some new Nokias, for example 515,301, c2-01,7230,207,208, 2730 classic. These are feature phones (no smartphone) but they support 3g, and can be used on three network.0

They all look really good. Thanks -- I'll pass those suggestions on.0
