Virgin Media Internet - Really Slow Wish to Cancel

Hi,
Over the last couple of months Virgin Media internet has been really really slow, especially at peak times, from 4 - 11pm I get around 1MB or 0.5MB. I can hardly doing anything. I have complained 20+ times and they have reduced my bill and given me credit, but to be honest it is no longer worth it. They keep telling me it's some work they are doing in my area "to double the speed", I didn't even get doubled speed, been waiting months!
As a software develop, I sometimes work from home but can't do that anymore due to slow broadband.
It seems I am not only the one and others are complaining to. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5454370
I am in a contract and have paid upfront for the line-rental (line-rental saver), plus I am currently getting around £50-£60 credit back from VM for slow broadband, but I really wish to cancel, and get all my money back (The credit, and line rental saver), legally what can I do and what laws/acts can I use to escape this contract?
