We eat more chicken, turkey and fish at the moment.

I used to only buy turkey mince or pork mince (lower fat) but then thought about how little red meat we actually eat and started to worry about anaemia etc so switched back to lean steak mince. Usually buy 3x 500g packs a month and stretch that out with pulses to make 24 portions of whatever (chilli, or s/pie or lasagna).

We do have pork chops sometimes (when on offer) or turkey steaks.

Roast chicken is usually about 1 a month.

forgot that we do have a fair bit of lean steak mince as well in the week. for spag bols , lasange , chilli , tortilla wraps etc. didn't register it was counted a s meat at first. bit brain dim at mo, lol.
  • Hi,

We probably eat more red than white meat as I'm not keen on chicken unless it's a leg or a thigh which are fiddly to eat when covered in sauce.

I will try replacing chicken with turkey.

Cooking has to be quick and simple as I have to fit it around DD.

Mostly red meat in our house. We have chicken probably once a week on average (sometimes no chicken one week, twice another), fish once a week for my DH (only occasionally for me as I don't really like it). We do have egg based dishes (like souffle) fairly often.

We eat a lot of beef and mutton, some lamb (but I prefer mutton), some pork. I would say that 5 meals a week on average would be classed as red meat.
  • We eat less meat now, preffering(sp) quality over quantity. We have chicken one sunday(leftovers on mon), Beef the next(leftover on mon). We also have one lot of minced beef per week, either in chilli or spag bol or meatballs. I think you really can taste the difference between supermarket meat and meat from the butcher. We get our meat delivered once a month from a butcher friend. He informs me that the supermarkets don't leave their beef to 'hang' for long enough and this compromises the texture and taste.
