Yeah well I know I should have held out sooner with that.

Well I just checked again and it's not in so they've gone over their guarantee of 3-5 working days, so I shall try their live chat first tomorrow, only because I want to avoid someone keep asking me to go on hold every minute first
  • Has a payment actually left your account and have you checked any transactions from immediately before the payment left? Occasionally with debit card refunds the refund clears in your account before the original payment clears out of it.

If they've guaranteed something (preferably in writing) then they should obviously honour that, but worth noting that under section 34 (6) of the Consumer Contracts Regulations they have 14 days to refund you once you've advised them of your desire to cancel....

I find that once a company process a debit card refund it's in the account the next day... And I'm sure Halifax process refunds into a customers account around 15:20 monday to friday.

There is no point in calling the bank everyday or hour... Did the funds actually debit the account or they still pending.. Since you cancelled?
  • I have nothing still in my pending transactions and my original transaction is still there from when it left my account last week, no refund in sight still,
And I only rang my bank once yesterday an the lady had said to me they couldn't see anything on system an once they get the refund it would be credited to me instantly so I just assumed yesterday it was my bank hadn't recieved it
  • I have no idea if it is freephone or not that I've been ringing
    Find out.

    Seriously, what is the number?
  • 0330 332 3050 That's the number I've been given and ringing

.. decided to cancel the whole thing before it arrived an nothing was even sent out by then when I did it, which was this Sunday just gone, an they said they issued my refund and it would be in within 3-5 working days as I would expect.

It's now the 5th working day and I've recieved NOTHING in a way of a refund,

I would count the 5th working day as this coming Monday, because Sunday wasn't a working day, so the refund process might not have started until Monday, so 5 working days after that would be the following Monday.

Refunds from companies can take upto 14 working days to be processed, In reply to Halifax updating their account during the day this is correct.

I would stop calling Halifax as they have no idea or can indeed view any incoming transactions, they can only see what you can see on your online banking screen.

They can see items debiting your account, and those that have been authorised, so I'm afraid its just a waiting game, but If you are on working day five, (if the refund was processed on Monday,) I would wait till next Friday, till working day ten then speak to NOW tv again to see if they have indeed initiated your refund.

I will take the assumption that if they have indeed processed the refund, it will be in your account by day ten.

  • Well if it really is meant to take 14 days, why did the first guy I spoken to said it would be in my account within 3-5 days, the second guy then said the same thing as well when I asked, then when I went on live chat support on Saturday the woman said "the money has to be credited on their end to process it back to me" in her exact words?
That's funny because if it really takes time for money to credit into the business end before they process a refund, then how is it I got a refund issued straight away by Microsoft yesterday for a faulty product? Thought that "it takes time" to credit onto the businesses side before it can be processed?
An you wonder why I find it strange that yet again the woman said again it'll take 3-5 days from then because she supposedly issued it that day? Like not being funny but if the process there is like they said that it's gotta be credited on their end first why didn't they do it sooner?
I know that there could be nothing wrong but there's just one too many "off" things with the situation, I personally believe they never sent it out originally like the first two had said.

So far at present the money still hasn't shown up in my account
