When will my refund actually appear

Hello people.
I'm with Halifax Bank an I had an order placed for Now TV an paid £50 for the rolling contract setup, an decided to cancel the whole thing before it arrived an nothing was even sent out by then when I did it, which was this Sunday just gone, an they said they issued my refund and it would be in within 3-5 working days as I would expect.
It's now the 5th working day and I've recieved NOTHING in a way of a refund, I phoned them up again about it an the guy said he understands my frustration an it should be in later today saying that banks can update throughout the day, an if it ain't in phone them tomorrow.
Now for one thing I under I could just be being really impatient here in wanting my money, but never in my life yet have i experienced my bank updating "throughout the day" so I'm curious about this, does anyone know if this is true and if it's actually going to turn up today? I just find it hard to believe an feel deep down I may be fed excuses from them as I've read a lot online in last few days that their ability to refund people isn't all that great, so yeah I would like to know if banks do update multiple times during the day an if so anyone know what times and when?
If my refund isn't in my bank today in the timeframe they've given what can I do? Is there not something more they should do because it's actually causing me a massive inconvenience an probably wracking up my phonebill as I have no idea if it is freephone or not that I've been ringing

A massive inconvenience - really?!it's actually causing me a massive inconvenience an probably wracking up my phonebill as I have no idea if it is freephone or not that I've been ringing
I'd suggest you just calm down and wait a bit rather than getting all worked up about this and making many phone calls....0 -

I came in asking for help not for negativity, £50 isn't exactly pocket money you know?
And if I just stop phoning them if it isn't in today, then what? Just stop phoning them an nothing happens while they keep £50 of my money they didn't earn?
Both of you replied way too harshly.0 -
Payments could be applied throughout the day so I would not be too concerned.
I'd even suggest giving it until the six or seventh working day as sometimes things just take time.
The only circumstance where I'd call back each day is if not getting the refund was going to cause a costly overdraft.
Always check your phone tariff so you know what a call will be costing you and if a call will cost check saynoto0870 to see if there's an alternate (ideally free) number.0 -
Nobody's saying not to chase them at all, just that by your own admission you've been pestering them regularly and these things do take time. Your prerogative to spend as much time and money as you want in hassling them but you're sounding unduly stressed about it, hence the constructive recommendation to wait a bit, by which I meant leave it until early next week rather than trying to monitor it by the hour (banks do work in real time by the way)!0

Thank you The Shape for that, if that's the case I can rest easy throughout the day then instead of worrying.
I think I've been misinterpreted I've only phones them twice since the refund was meant to have been issued, I've just been asked if I mind being put on hold with them....a lot0 -
Just want to note as of 15:15 my money still isn't in0

Now TV aren't the sort of company that's going to scam you. You are going to get your money back. If I was told 3-5 days I probably wouldn't get in touch with them until they'd gone quite a bit over that. They're not going to look into it before there's definitely a problem. If you call on Monday they'll probably just tell you to wait a bit longer. My guess is that they're not making excuses, but simply telling you what they know - a refund has been requested.0

If £50 is such a big deal to you it would have been better to think a bit longer before you put in the order in my opinion.0
