doh! Went to Boots in Bluewater today. Bought piggy bank set, t-shirt set and cardboard box set for first curl etc. They were the only three sets left
. Whoops................. got to till & paid, checked receipt afterwards, didn't get 500 extra points and didn't get grooming voucher:(. If I'd paid attention to everything I would have realised piggy set was sooooo much cheaper and didn't scan through as 3 for 2.

Hi, just been to Boots in Burys St Edmunds where they have Xmas stock which is showing £4.98 on that stock, however behind it they had the stuff at normal price but still reduced it to £4.98 when i got to till, so again paid only £4.98 for 3 sets, what a bargain, however i've still managed to spend a fortune this weekend even with all of these bargains, just hope i got all the extra points on card when i had in validated receipts when new card turns up. I am curious though as to whether the xmas stock would have come up with same deal though as the bar codes had a cross through them. oh well i'm happy, baby will be bored with all this little me stuff though.WW Gold Member, trying to maintain !!!Hayden born July 07Tabitha born April 05Poppy born July 030

Had a great day at boots today at Bolton, went in one and they had loads of the sleepy head sets, all priced up at £9.99, so bit the bullet and took them to the counter and sure enough the total price was £4.98 and got 500+ points. Cashier handed me my change and a £3 grooming voucher so went back and got 3 more of the sets and some FCUK hair gel total was £5.98 plus 523 points.
By now i had the bug so went along to the other boots in town and got 3 of the Pamper gift sets all priced up at £14.99, worried a little as i went to the till, but i needn't have, total came to £7.48 plus i got 619 points lol. received another £3 grooming voucher, so got another hair gel for a £1.
The only down side was they didn't have any mags with the 10% off, but i guess ya can't have everything

I bought 3 of the coloured oral b toothbrushes for £9.99 then i saw some different ones in another boots so i bought 3 of those, all purchased with tripple points. Today i decided to take back the 1st three that i bought. I did this handed in my receipt, which had a total of £19.99 spend cause i had topped up my mobile. The toothbrushes wer coming up at £19.99 on the till. Then she cleared the till started again. She scanned all 3 toothbrushes and said have you got your advantage card, so i gave her that. She deducted 36 points, and said that Boots now have to do this or you can't get a refund. Due to the fact that the card is sometimes being abused on returns. I wasn't bothered. I had got double points and a £3 voucher for mens stuff. As i was putting my card away she counted out to me my money £29.97 can you believe it.
She gave me back my original receipt and a new one that confirms the £29.97 refund.
I just couldn't believe it. I just took my money and walked away.
So i gained £20 how stupid are those tills at boots.0 -
Saint_chris .... I personally would NOT have accepted the money back as you clearly knew you had not paid this much ( I am also in NO WAY suggesting you did this on purpose )....I also think you should have kept this one to yourself as now several people will be trying the same thing on and if boots are losing £20 a time it definately wont take them long to cotton on to this .....
While I in NO WAY claim to know anything about the law with regards to this I would have thought it is almost certain that boots WILL take some sort of legal action on this particular venture for people they catch doing this even though it is their tills that are making the mistakes
AGAIN these are my own particular views and other people may be of a differing opinion0 -
coupon king.
its not the customers fault how the tills are set up is it, after all thats why there are 25 pages off people getting bargains dure to how they price things up. if there tills decide to pay back more than what he paid then thats Boots fault..0 -

In general I would have to say that buying products and then returning them in order to gain free points or extra refund money is wrong. On the other hand I don't see anything wrong with accepting the amount of refund the store believe they owe you even if you are aware that this may be higher than it is meant to be. To be honest we use this site in order to take advantage of certain perks such as wrongly programmed tills that enable use to purchase £30 worth of stock for around £4.00 with lots of extra points (Little Me stuff!) so I think Saint_Chris was well within rights to take the money and run as it were! Just remember guys it isn't cool to buy stuff just to take it back and get extra cash, I reckon the law wouldn't take a kind view on this kinda thing!0 -
SORRY but I still think accepting £29.99 + keeping £10 phone card when you know you have only spent £19.99 is WRONG whichever way you slice it .... While I accept Saint_Chris genuinely returned his items in good faith expecting only to get the money he paid back this clearly has not happened
The baby mine offer is totally different you are buying a product with a price reduction + points offer and not taking it back to gain extra cash or advantage card points
What I was trying to get across was while you could probably get away with this once saying " I didn`t realize " I am sure now there are some people who will try this several times ... and as Boots are able to trace EVERY transaction you make with them what defence could you offer if you had done this several times .... as I`ve already stated I am not legally qualifed and while I agree this is Boots own fault surely people who do go for this loophole could leave themselves open to obtaining money by deception if Boots did decide to take it further
As a footnote I remember reading a thread a while ago where a member was accused by Boots of trying to obtain tokens for the soft toy promotion by buying goods and then taking them back to claim a refund but keeping the tokens ...... and that was only for a SOFT TOY ... we are talking £20 a time here0 -

What's the difference? Either way you're taking money from Boots, aren't you?You walk into the shop knowing which products to buy, but effectively get for free with the amount of points you get( Ie I would never have bought Little Me goods if they cost me lots). However, the staff are aware of the price when you buy. Again, if the staff are aware of the extra points you have earned when refunding a product loaded with points, then they will remove them from your card.
If they aren't aware, then I think you should make them aware...the people who work in Boots stores make mistakes too...though their mistakes aren't as dramatic as the guy who puts prices into tills!:j Quite often when you point out to shop staff the extra money/points you still have by their incorrect refunding, they can't be bothered to take off the points or give you the extra cash, so it stays with you anyway. However, it eases my conscience to know that I tried to get back the same amount that I paid for a product, rather than making money on it.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?
