I would love them to set up routes from Norwich. They bring their planes here for maintenance, some nice cheap flights would be fab!

Flybe are very expensive on all their norwich routes.

I guess with Gatwick and now even Luton bursting at the seams it has to be Stansted for their South East base.

That said Stansted has always seemed very underserved in the package holiday market. It's like Thomson/Thomas Cook never wanted the fight against Ryanair. I think Jet2 will be able to carve themselves a nice slice of the market there and certainly shake things up a bit.

agreed they keep emailing me with cheap flights but never from Norwich ,coupled with the £10 charge just to get through security, it sucks

But with the runway at Southend the 737-800 would be performance restricted on a lot of routes. Especially the sort of routes Jet2 would want to fly.

I think it's great news that Jet2 and Jet2 Holidays are heading down south. STN makes perfect sense from the point of view of an operating base for a programme of the size announced BUT I fear that we have yet to see the reaction of Ryanair yet who will I expect staunchly try to protect their flying ex STN.

Ryanair won't sit back and let Jet2 take business away from them on shared routes. I predict FR issuing cut price fares to scare Jet2.

Ryanair were very very vocal about threats to cut UK flying and the doom to follow of BRETIX. Jet2 clearly have different views. This should however play into Jet2's hands in this case as Ryanair would have to eat lots of humble pie if they now added extra STN flying on those direct to compete Jet2 routes. A few years back I think Ryanair would just have tried to push out the competition from one of their larger operating bases by not only reducing fares to silly levels but to have increased frequencies on shared routes.

Interesting times ahead but good luck to Jet2.
