It is only an issue of you do not follow the manufacturers guidance on cleaning the filter out. If you can't be bothered then your a big part of the problem!0 -
I waited 9 months for mine and the engineer commented on how clean mine was past the lint filter (which gets cleaned after every use).0

Yes, cleaning out the lint filter between each drying cycle is essential to maintaining a healthy tumble drier and a sound fire prevention method, but some of these particular driers did have a built in fault that meant that the act of cleaning the lint filter alone was not enough to keep it safe.
Our 7 year old machines heating element failed and when I opened up the machine to replace it the whole inside of the shell was filled with fluff and lint. We have always cleaned the filter between drying cycles. I decided to regularly vacuum the insides and purchase a fire extinguisher as a further safety measure.
Fortunately the modification program came along and I took the opportunity to ask for a replacement. After they failed to provide a link to a reduced priced replacement they offered an exact model swap for free.0 -
I had an Indesit dryer. I registered it as soon as news of the fault was made public and waited about several months for anything to be done. Finally I successfully asked for my money back.
Hotpoint/Indesit seemed chaotic with no record kept of what was happening with customers so intil it was all sorted I had about two calls arranging a repair and another one arranging a date for the replacement to be delivered. Best of all though was another email saying they were going to send me another cheque!0
