Excel and Windows Update

Has anyone else had problems with Excel after this latest update?

I lost loads of functionality, in particular I could change the orientation of pages, I couldn't move page breaks, I couldn't set print area and other minor niggles

Just curious really, I've now restored to my previous version (even though I'm only a 'normal user';) ) and it's all good.

It would be helpful if you could supply the version of Office/excel you are using such as 2007,2010,2013,2016. It may be a KB update to your specific version causing a problem.

Windows updates shouldn't affect Office ... did you select to receive updates for other MS products alongside Windows updates?

It's office 2012. The 'updates for other MS products' box is not ticked.

It shouldn't affect it, but it did! Update installed, Excel broken, update uninstalled, Excel fixed. It could just be a peculiarity of this laptop, is has many.

I'm not too bothered about a fix, a new lap top is on it's way, on which I'll be installing Office 2016, so for now I've turned off auto restart.

It just seemed a curious thing to stop working properly.

You should tick it as a security update for the OS or other component may have affected how Office interacts with the OS and as such also requires an update, Office uses shared libraries and undocumented API's.
