No help from British Gas

I received your e mail regarding the offer from British Gas even for those already with BG ....filled it in, but then noticed at the end it said my direct debits would stay the same for now ...having just had BG change my DD a couple weeks ago, it would seem I still have to pay the huge DD I am already paying them and not the cheaper one they worked out for me ?????

The DD 'that they worked out for you' is what BG would charge on your consumption if you were joining BG for the first time.
However if you are an existing BG customer, in setting your DD they have to take into account if you have a debit or credit balance. This will take some time after you are put on the new tariff.
If you are in debt then you will have to pay more than the lower DD 'they worked out for you' until your debt is reduced. This would appear to be the case if BG have hugely increased your DD a couple of weeks ago.
I am with BG and have been paying a little too much by DD and am in credit, so in my case on this new tariff I expect my DD to reduce slightly.0 -
Been with BG many years and I always decide what I am paying as they want to lower it. But I keep it up higher so that I can have my heating on all day on cold days as we are pensioners. I am always in credit especially with electric so that goes over to the gas and we stay warm ha ha I have signed up now as the cost per watt etc is cheaper0
