I think that the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003 would make such a request pretty pointless even if they found out.
How so? Surely a landowner has the right to know who owns a vehicle parked on his land without permission. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -

Sure he/she has - but what are they going to do about it once they have the keeper's details.
We have a huge problem in Scotland with trying to move on members of the 'travelling community' for example - it's a long drawn out procedure which usually is a waste of time and effort as the 'offenders' simply move on (when they are ready) and the landowner has nothing to prosecute them for.
Deterring a persistent supermarket car park abuser would be quite similar I think.
Better to put a very sticky label on the car window saying "Do not park here again."0 -
You may also wish to point out to DVLA that the parking firm have obtained Registered Keeper information with no grounds, as they have no rights to go after Registered Keepers in Scotland.
But the parking company don't know the keeper is based in Scotland until after they have made the request. Therefore they are perfectly within their rights to pay for the information.
The problem is they cannot pursue the keeper afterwards so in this case, any complaints should be made to parking lie and the BPA, not the DVLA, not that it will do any good.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister.

If the "offence" occurred in Scotland, it's covered by Scottish law, hence no POFA, surely?
The claim they can only go to the RK as a means of getting to the driver is a more convincing reason, but as the RK is under no obligation, you'd think that north of the border they'd be a bit more careful with ANPR. They aren't, so they deserve to get a bit of a kicking for it.
Although in this case the OP has done no-one any favours.0 -
I wasn't going to lie to you guys and make up an excuse. The train station is across the road and I was busy so genuinely didn't pay attention and just parked there and ran across quickly. TWICE! (Always run late).
Thanks for the advice though. I will ignore all future letters. Cheers Scott.0 -
Good evening all,
I have been following these posts and replies for a while now. I have taken advice to ignore the letters asking for parking charge payment but have now just received a letter from a company called "Equita". This has been going on for about 11 months now. I feel totally harassed.
I'm quite concerned now. My parking charge is now £140. This happened in Aberdeen. In my case I returned to a store (within 3 hours) with faulty goods to return to the customer service.... but they were mobbed. I couldn't wait as I had my young child with me (so no proof of me being there!).
I have spoken with the retailer but they are fobbing me off saying I need to discuss with parking eye.
Any suggestions please?
Thank you

I have corrected your post for you.
Please read the Sticky thread for NEWBIES that clearly explains the situation in Scotland, and what to do about debt collectors anywhere in the UK.
If you need further help understanding how to ignore private parking tickets in Scotland, please start your own thread.
The only other things I can suggest are, write a complaint to the CEO of the retailer, complain to Trading Standards (Scotland) without revealing the driver's identity, never visit that retailer again, and never ever park in a car park mis-managed by parking lie.I married my cousin. OK 3 things
1: start your own new thread
2: equita is owned by the same company that own Parking eye , in other words , its just been passed from one desk to another,
2: PE cannot take the owner to court - they can but it will be hard work
4: equita are debt collectors , all they can do is write threatening letters to you , they cannot kill your children or drown your cat
edit: ok , 4 pointsSave a Rachael

Which store?
The reason I ask is because numerous Aberdeen store parks have planning conditions that would largely rule-out private ticketing and PPCs seem loath to apply for change of use.
Otherwise, Just ignore the bams and don't hijack other people's threads here in future!0
