I've just booked our fifth midweek [5 days/4nights] break with Shearings this year.

Did Tenby and Torquay in January, Costa del Morecambe in July, Lynton in 11 days time, and Ilfracombe at the beginning of December.

On the basis that's nowhere's perfect, and taking into consideration how much these breaks cost, I think they're excellent vfm.

For the £124 each I've just paid for the Bay Inclusive to Ilfracombe in December, we get...

    - Return coach travel from Fareham

    - 4 nights Half Board. Some people moan about the food, but judging by the empty plates at dinner most people really enjoy having four choices for starter, main and pud. Don't forget the coffee.

    - 2 Excursions. Usually a decent day out, but the weather helps.

    - Evening entertainment. Take it or leave it, but sometimes it's really good.

    - 4 pints or shorts/mixer or J20 type drinks per day. For lager drinkers That's 4 x £3.70 a day x 4 days = £59.20. Having only paid £124 in total, it's a steal.

Another great thing about these trips is you get the opportunity to see a bit of our beautiful country, which judging by some of the answers you get on The Chase and Tipping Point a lot of people don't know very much about.

The fact that you make that comment, tells me all I need to know about you. What did you expect? You were expecting to profit from someone else's misfortune! You obviously cannot see how wrong that is.
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.

I think that is a bit harsh. If you had got a voucher you intended to throw away then surely 50% of the face value would be better than nothing? In fact if it were me I would have said I would give it away to someone who had a different opinion of the company than I had.

I think your comment to that poster is unwarranted and churlish.

Didn't you notice the :) icon at the end of the paragraph?:D

One drawback on Shearings holidays can be in the dining room, if you're unlucky enough to share a table with a couple of perpetual moaners.;)
  • We have had four shearings holidays in total, two were excellent, One was OK and one was crap, my top tip is to check out the reviews for the hotel before you book.

But be aware of the price your paying especially if your booking last minute, your not going to get a five star hotel for one star prices.

On the plus side I have nothing but praise for their drivers.

You should do that before booking any hotel anywhere.

I think that most people are realistic, but definitely not everyone.

Same here. But you still get some miserable types who refuse to tip a few quid at the end of the trip.

Problem is that most reviews are negative as few satisfied customers write reviews.
