Hi,
I've spent quite some time researching memory foam mattresses - including reading all the threads here on MSE. I like the look of the mattresses on memory-mattress.co.uk, but am struggling to find any reviews.
Has anyone bought from here, and can anyone recommend them (or not as the case may be) ?
Any help would be great, thanks.

I have used them before. They sell Breasley Flexcell mattresses. There is no mention of Flexcell mattresses on their site because they are not allowed to advertise the name of that mattress there. If you email the owner he will confirm this to you. They also sell their mattresses on ebay from time to time at a big discount.0

Thanks for that. I had *thought* that they were the mattresses they did, because the site says they were rated above Tempur on the Which report (which everyone was!) and the only one which seemed to match up was the Breasley.
You mention you have used them before - are you happy with the mattress, any drawbacks I should know about? I am almost decided, but it has been hard with conflicting information everywhere and I've struggled to find any reviews.
Thanks again.0 -
I'm not happy at all with the Flexcell 700 I bought. The problem is that it uses a cheap density of memory foam of only 55kg/m3. Such a low density was not enough to support my body and keep it straight during sleep. I would wake up in the middle of the night with my body bent unnaturally. This was very uncomfortable. The mattress also became uncomfortably hot after a while.
After my bad experience with the Flexcell, I would only consider mattresses with much higher densities of memory foam.
Which other mattresses are you thinking of buying?0 -
It was actually the Flexcell 700 that I was looking to buy, so I'm very glad to read your comments.
I am very confused over all the other mattresses. Some reports say that foam only is best, and some say pocket sprung and foam is best. So I haven't even managed to narrow it down between those. I have read about the density, but as far as I understand, everywhere recommends 55kg/m3 and above, so I thought that the Flexcell would be ok.
One thing we definitely want is one with a cooling device of some sort, so the Coolmax cover or similar is a must. Not looking to pay a fortune, but willing to pay for something that is good. Definitely want a no quibble returns period in case we hate whatever one we choose. I've given up really on trying to find the 'best' one, as all advice conflicts so much.
Your comments have now made me unsure about the Flexcell - I was ready to buy it tomorrow so am confused again now as I don't have a good second option0 -
Everyone is different and there is a chance you might prefer the very soft feeling that the Flexcell gives. My personal preference is for something with a lot more support.
When the Flexcell didn't work out I bought a Tempur overlay and that was a huge improvement over the Flexcell. Tempur use densities of 85kg/m3 for their memory foam and it really made a big difference to the comfort and support I was getting.
I won't comment on pocket sprung because it will just start another argument with the pocket sprung mattress salesman on this forum. Try and get independent advice from someone and not to listen to salesmen.
Also it is worth visiting a few bed stores in your area just to try out some mattresses. Many of the furniture stores, like Furniture Village, will have Tempur and there are a few which also have Flexcell.0 -
We bought a tempur mattress more than 3 years ago, It's heaven and I certainly wouldn't go back to a "normal" mattress. It was well worth the money, and if you have a medical problem ie bad back you can buy it vat free as it's classed as a medical aid.0

Does the VAT free part apply specifically to Tempur brand mattresses, or does it extend to any memory foam mattress? I guess it's just Tempur but thought I would ask!0 -
As far as I know it's just tempur. I was told about it by the retailer, we just had to fill in a form that he had giving our name and address and that was it, there was no proof needed.0

IIRC the free VAT only applies if you get a certain type of dissability benefit.
High rate DLA IIRC0 -
That wasn't the case with us. We wasn't asked about any benefits, all we had to do was confirm that my husband had previously received treatment for a back problem. It was a standard form that the retailer (Premier Stores Bolton Lancs) had. Maybe not all retailers have them. We have never had any comeback from customs and excise regarding the purchase, so as far as I'm aware it's all above board.0
