BT Monopoly

Today i tried to switch to Bt as they have a cheaper deal than my current isp, i applied online and everything went ok.... or so i thought.
About 45 mins later i get a phone call saying that because i had a ccj that i didnt know i had, they canceĺled my order and told me not to try reapply for any bt service at it will get cancelled straight away, this means that now i will not be able to use any isp that uses bt infrastructure all because of a ccj i didnt know i had.
Any ideas what my next step is and virgin is not in my area.
Thanks

As an ISP they are not a monopoly so try one of the many other ISPs .
Personally i would want to find out what this ccj is .0 -
What if you were in a Virgin area, and they had the same policy? Sounds like the CCJ is the problem, not BT/Openreach.0

This.
Other providers that use the Openreach infrastructure don't have some sort of special access to BT Retail's credit checking facilities.
They do however have access to databases that show if someone has a CCJ.
The CCJ is therefore the problem. The OP needs to find out about it.0 -
BT Consumer credit checking has nothing to do with any other providers credit checking , even if they also use Openreach line plant, but, there is a pretty good chance that whatever credit rating agency or agency's BT Consumer use , are also used by other providers, so if BT run a check on your name and get a 'CCJ' hit, then any other company could potentially get the same 'hit', it would be upto the individual company , if they offer service knowing the existence of this CCJ....these days you can do a free credit check yourself to see what info these credit agency's can seeToday i tried to switch to Bt as they have a cheaper deal than my current isp, i applied online and everything went ok.... or so i thought.
