    When I go to addons the page is empty - I then click on install and my Documents folder opens - I presume I hav'nt got the file downloaded - Where should I download the webmail 1.2.4 file from

    Then get the hotmail one as well. Remember where you download them to.

    Ok now downloaded into my Internet Downloads file the go to open and it says:-

    Use the web service tfind appropriate program

    or

    Select from the program list.

    What do I do?
    1. In Mozilla Thunderbird, open the extension manager > Tools > Add Ons
    2. Click the Install button, and locate/select the "webmail-1.2.4.xpi" file you downloaded and click "OK".
    3. Restart Thunderbird.
    4. Open the extension manager again...then install "hotmail-1.2.9.xpi" in exactly the same way.
    5. Restart Thunderbird.
    6. File > New > Account > Webmail.
    7. Put your Hotmail account settings in. Pop defaults to port 110, SMTP to Port 25. Use your existing main email account SMTP settings and username/password

    Thank you - did all that restarted etc., message came up saying localhost responed my address was an unsupported domain - although this website and email address obtained from Windows Live.

    Any Ideas?
  • Microsoft emailed me about a year or so ago saying they were going to stop allowing all hotmail emails through outlook because I assume that they want you to visit the website and look at the adverts.

    If you have a really old hotmail address it still lets you use Outlook but for newer addresses it won't.
