My great grandson who is 2 years 4 months insists he is small. I was trying to explain that ants run away from him because he's so big and frightening but he wouldn't have it. The concept of size being relative has yet to dawn on him.0

I recently read my grandchildren a library book about a frog and a giraffe who are small and tall, so can't easily see what the other is able to.0 -
Whe my daughter started school, we referredto the pre prep children as "littlies" our daughter christened the older prep school children "bigglies".0

I'm in my late 20's and a waiter in a caf! called me 'Madam' the other day. Clearly my youth is over and all that's left for me now are beige anoraks and a slow wait for death.PenguinOfDeath wrote: »Who knows? I was referred to today as 'Young Lady'...I'm in my mid-thirties....0 -

No I could not be mistaken for pregnant! The lady was Japanese, I hope she was just being very polite! I declined anyway since we were only going to the next stop.Make £2026 in 2026

Well, this is interesting because if someone mentioned 'small children' to me, I would assume they were describing children who were physically small in size and not young in age. I've honestly never heard it being used to mean 'young children'.
For me, young children means toddler to about the age of 6 possibly 7. Then they are simply 'children', 'teenagers/adolescents' and then adults or dependent (older) children/offspring.0
