O/S Daily Thread for Monday 19th September

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Thinking of all those who are struggling at the moment.
I'm up and dressed, my L&M has a cuppa, I'm off to the hospital, I need to catch the 7:45 bus, no point driving there as there is no where to park and I have an ophthalmology appointment and I won't be able to see when I leave because of all the jollop they put in my eyes.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Had a lovely weekend, afternoon tea and a few drinks on saturday and out to a friends for dinner last night, good company and lots of chat. Sadly it's Monday morning again but just a 4 day week as we have September weekend here - Monday off too next week.

Yesterday's washing had a final rinse outside, I walked down to Aldi for a couple of bits and it was dry when I went in and pouring down when I came out! It can finish off on the airer today.

Cleaned the bathrooms yesterday and hoovered everywhere including the stairs, my bedroom suffers dreadfully with dust bunnies on the wooden floor.

Hope today's appt goes well HH, hugs to all those with a lot on their minds. I seem to have the start of a cold (been going on since last week), wish it would either develop or go away!

    Happy Monday, take care. XX

PS Speky it was brewdog in the Merchant City!
  • Morning folks. Thanks HESTER and good luck at the hospital.

Well this morning is a big let down after the glorious weekend of sunshine we have had. Miserable and mizzly! Though no actual rain is promised for us. We did think we would have a bus ride to Skipton as it's a market day and not been for ages. But this dismal weather makes it sound less appealing. Will see what Mr TA fancies doing when he surfaces.

If we go it will involve lunch out but, if not, there's plenty of l/o veggies and gravy in the fridge to warm up with something! I'm sure there is some sliced up beef in the freezer so that will do nicely.

Thinking of all the poorlies, those with poorly loved ones and the job seekers. (((HUGS))) and have a good day all if you can. Take care xx

    Morning everyone.

Yesterday was a washout, rained for most of the day and definitely more colder than last week.

My weekend was very quiet, almost dull in fact. Or perhaps it was me who was dull! I went to bed early again and was watching TV in bed when a neighbour called round. She'd been walking her dog and was drenched and freezing so needed to get warmed up.

Camelot - didn't realise it was the holiday weekend already. And I love a good afternoon tea. Years and years ago a friend and I used to go for one every month, always to a different venue.

I hope everyone enjoys their Monday.

    Morning all,

Chilly here again this morning but no rain atm. Off to work for me and we have a new menu starting which is lovely but I don't think suited to our place we shall see, but in the mean time its a whole new menu to teach the clients and to get their and our heads round.

I need to get something out of the freezer before I leave this morning, I think there are some meatballs in there or some chicken.

Had a really good clean through yesterday the house feels much better now, decided against doing an online shop this week as I think we have enough, although I might need to pop out for a few bits at the weekend.

Right better get on have good days all xx
  • Good morning, the Internet has eaten my post. Hester, thank you for the thread.

I am back to work today after a *week off* during which I have worked, as ever, but not full days and have not switched on my laptop at all over the weekend,. I am going direct to a meeting so a later start. I need to manage my hours much better and reduce my overload of hours, which has reached disaster proportions. I suspect that I may not be working as fast as I might have done 10 years ago. But also there are some jobs that, if not done, can result in significant delay and that is just wrong. But if I were actually away, I couldn't do thesew so I have to try to get tough in this respect.

It has been a dry weekend but now raining and the weatherman says it will do this all day so I am off to stick the washing on the airer before I head off.

Hope everyone has as good a day as they can.

    Morning everyone,

Thanks for the thread Hester, hope all goes well with the appointment.

Not a bad day here, dry at least, we need to get out soon as the big car is booked in for a recurring problem, do have a courtesy car so will pop into BuryStEd afterwards. We both need new winter boots and I wouldn't mind some new jeans as well but we will see what's around.
This afternoon will be back in Bury to visit Mum, she was tired yesterday but happy to see all her visitors, we have learnt to head over after 3 as that gives her chance for a quick nap after lunch.

Have a good day everyone, take care folks x

Morning! Thanks for the thread Hester - hope the appointment goes well x

DD and DS2 have just left for school. DD completed her bronze DofE this weekend after a few shambolic weeks where the school staff were sending out wrong info. She was really happy when she phoned to say they'd finished but been in a mood ever since coming home. I really can't be doing with it tbh as I have enough going on. I even helped to format her homework last night as she was tired - did I get a thank you? Did I heck!

Today I'm at the church and have a big to do list so the time should pass quickly. Not sure what's for tea, but we had pulled pork last night (slow cooker recipe) and there's some left, so that's lunch sorted. Washing is on, so I will hang it out before I leave.

Hugs to all those worried, poorly or waiting for results. It's not an easy time for a lot of us on here. I'm so grateful for the support you've shown me, thank you xxx

Well yesterday was another day of not getting much done. DD1 and DGD came to brunch and ended up staying all day. Went to farm shop and got a sack of spuds and some winter pansies for the garden (few bare patches that need filling in )
Dinner last night was a quick pizza , chicken nuggets chips and garlic bread. Not very Sunday based but hey ho.
Today i need to get loads done again. DW done. Wm needs to go on and then be dried. Cakes to make for DD2 to take to work tomorrow. Hungarian Goulash for dinner tonight with bacon and cheese scone (would be normal scones but have 2 rashers of streaky bacon to use up)
Already had a quick tidy up down stairs but need to clean bathroom and kitchen properly as yesterday they just got a wipe over.
DD2 is like a cat on hot bricks at mo as she has her driving test this morning and is flapping already.
Anyhoo best crack on and get done.
Hugs to all in need xx
    Bright Blessings xx
