New Phone Line

I currently get Broadband and phone from Virgin (never use the phone line). Once again their prices are increasing and I'm looking at options.

Easy enough to ditch and switch apart from one potential issue. There has been no phone service, other than with Virgin for about three years and in addition, my father, who owned the property before me, cut the BT line between the point it reached the house and the BT Master socket. There is now simply a wire hanging from the guttering.

What are the options for switching if I need to reinstate a Master Socket?

The only option is to sign up for a line provider and pay any charges for the line to be fixed. The line is Openreach's property and only they should be repairing it.
  • Several broadband deals which don't charge for new line installation, or only charge a smaller fee, eg £20 new line fee with Sky offer

The line to the master socket belongs to BT, it wasn't his to vandalize.

That sky deal sounds your best bet.

It's a black sheathed wire with what appears to be two cables in. Hangs down to around the upstairs window level.

I know that, but it's done now.
