  • If you have not got Vista then you can't knock it. it does not take loads of ram as this is a misconception and as for being a poor OS I have been running Vista since 2006 when the pre public release was made available to beta testers with no problems never had a single crash unlike XP the second most unstable windows OS

personal opinion though ain't it, i've been running xp for 3 years + without a single crash.
  • why would you want your operating system to last another 7 years anyway? i mean i think ive been using xp for about 5 years, so if i did this - in theory i would have been using the same thing for 12 years! that's like using windows 95 today!

i'd much rather have the real thing than some shoddy bodge job.
  • microsoft are stopping selling xp in january so that people have to buy vista...but didn't we all have this question when xp came out...and look at us now...I for one beta tested vista and loved every bit of it...have also taken the plunge and got vista premium now...which I love...it all depends if you like change...microsoft are now building there next OS codenamed vienna...which they hope to launch in afew years time...it'll be ...NO i like my vista I don't want to change...lol:rotfl:

  • as soon as i ge the chance to buy more ram for this pc its vista for me, the only prob with vista is the lack of support it has by various programs, but there is always a workaround, and by the time i get more ram they will prob be ok.

Instead of working on a new OS shouldn't microsoft be concentraiting on developing service pack one to iron out the bugs in vista.

Is MS really so small it can't cope with doing both, as it has done throughout it's history? It seems many have already forgotten about XP's release or 98 etc etc, computerwoman is right all the complaints about Vista are just the same as previous windows releases.

Vista sp1's release date hasn't changed (in fact the beta is due out imminently isn't it?) and the timespan is identical to XP sp1. People have got too used to XP's extremely long shelf life (although MS were working on Vista already on XP's release), this shorter development/release schedule with Vienna etc is much more in line with the previous windows releases times, XP was just an exception.

What bugs are those then? I've been using it for 8 months and so far it's fine.

Presumably those that will be fixed in SP1.

Don't forget that service pack 3 for XP is still to be released yet for those that think MS have completely forgotten about XP or that XP is already "perfect".
