This website lists a load of downloads that help set up your computer to Vista like standards and keep your Windows XP lasting a long time:

I've found it really useful and pointed out loads of bits and pieces I didn't know.

I've downloaded :
Window's defender
Comodo firewall
widgets/google desktop- although would recommend rocketdock instead (posted by raptorman)
CCleaner

all with no problems. :A

  • I don't know if i have missed something here but why would anyone in their right mind want to put Vista or some look alike on their XP System. A lot of vista users wished that they had been given the choice of operating system, if they had it would not have been vista. Even Dell on some of there machines were offering a choice!.

To each there own best of luck hope you have plenty of memory you'll need it!
  • cc cleaner and comodo are good software

Have to agree with Malamute, Vista will probably be great in about 2 years when all the bugs have been sorted. I have just purchased a new lap top and had a long search for one with XP rather than Vista. Couldn't afford a Dell with it's £51 delivery charge, and other makes offer a 'downgrade' to XP at an extra cost of £45. The software for a training couse I'm doing can't be run on Vista, so thank heavens I got XP.

The title is very misleading, please amend as I clicked thinking it's the real thing.
No reliance should be placed on the above.
