Not sure whether to let dealer valet a car I'm collecting new week

Will it need washing to get any residue left by the protective film?

Just need some advice on what others would do. It could be that I'm being over protective

Thanks

How much is the car worth?

I generally like to take my new cars to a professional detailer to get a new car detail. Not cheap by any means but will give your cars bodywork, interior and alloys the best start in life and correct any problems with paint that inevitable occur.
  • If it is a brand new car consider getting a professional to cote with paint protection. Do not let the selling garage do it at a very inflated price, try to get it free. Plus fabric seats are worth protecting with Scotchguard or similar.

With regard to a valet, I wouldn't let the car dealer any where near it. If you want get a pro to prep it once you have the car home, or do it your self if you feel inclined.

Many new cars come with a protective coat which needs removing before handing over to new owner, if this is what the dealer calls valeting then you have no choice but to let the dealer carry out this work. Just a comment on hard glaze protection, or whatever it's now called, car I had done ended up with loads of stone chips thanks to the hard glaze finish, may be different nowadays but still worth checking first.

How did the "hard glaze finish" cause your car to get loads of stone chips?

I personally do not like dealer washing or valeting and do not allow them to wash my car

but many people are happy to have a free wash and vac while they sip the free coffee on offer and they next time it gets dirty they take it to tesco,s to get it washed by a guy wandering around the parking lot with a cart

as said a lot really depends on car make and colour, if it is a car that you are going to keep for years and you want it to stay looking good and be easy to clean then take it to a professional detailer and spend between £500.00-£1000.00 on a new car protection detail and have two coats of ceramic coating applied to your paint

this will make your paint easier to clean and keep it looking nice for two to three years, do not pay the dealer £300-£500 to apply lifeshine superguard or what ever else they call there all singing all dancing paint protection offering that is a total rip off

I'd imagine its a ceramic paintwork protection.

not sure any of the main dealers would apply a true ceramic coating to a car it is more likely to be somthing like that

    www.autoglymprofessional.com/en/products/liquid-hardwax

which is a million miles from a ceramic coating

I think he might have been referring to something like Supagard. I still fail to understand how it would have been the cause of more stone chips for him.
