They would backdate the payments so you still retired on X date, but you might not see any actual cash in the first weeks if you don't give enough notice. Also don't assume informing your employer of your intention to retire is the same as telling your pension scheme, even if it as a company pension.
Thanks redo - I'll keep what you have posted well in mind! It's an eye opener dealing with these pension transfers! A good friend who retired not so long ago had an absolute nightmare with her pension - she waited over eight months from the date she retired from work till when she got her pension payment!HairyHandofDartmoor wrote: »You had a restful and productive weekend SSG.
The pension fiasco sounds horrendous SSG, a complicated process made worse by total incompetence .
I know Hairy - they never explain anything properly unless you actually ring them up and find out yourself!
BUT - halleujah! I've actually had a result! When I got home last night I had a letter from the useless administrator about one of the pensions. They confirmed that they transferred the funds last Friday!:j I rang the receiving pension fund this morning and they said they hadn't received the cash yet, but it can take up to five working days to hit my pension plan (which actually is quite normal). They said they will write to me when it arrives, but I'm going to call them next week anyway!
Last night I went to the charity concert which was really wonderful! I wasn't sure what to expect but we all enjoyed it immensely. As I didn't have to pay for the ticket and our colleague paid for all the pre-theatre drinks, I donated £30 to the charity.
Raining cats and dogs today and felt cold on the way to work. Hopefully we'll get some respite for Easter but I'm not holding my breath! Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

Thanks everybody for your Easter good wishes! I hope you all had an enjoyable time too!:easter_ba
I've had a bit of a techie breakdown so that's why I've not posted. My ipad has not been charging properly since last week, even though I replaced the charger not so long ago – therefore I haven't been able to use it for any length of time – I think there is something up with the battery so I've had to take it into the ipad hospital this morning and won't get it back for at least 24 hours. I've been trying to use my laptop but been having problems with that too as I haven't used it for ages and it needed all sorts of upgrades that has taken all weekend to download! And I can't use my phone for posting because the keyboard is so small it drives me up the wall!
So I'm posting during my lunch hour today and hopefully the laptop will be fine to use tonight.
Back to work today – where did those four days go?!:(
Though the weather wasn't great I managed to get out over the long weekend – on Saturday for lunch with two of my friends which was good to catch up and have a natter - chicken panini and Sauvignon Blanc involved here!On Sunday I was at DSis's and OH for lunch – her OH's family was there as well. We had a really lovely time – Dsis and her OH really went to town on the Easter decorations – their home looked great and my little nephew loved it! I stayed over and got back yesterday morning and caught up with my ironing and what I had recorded on Sky.
I've jollied up my friend who was supposed to be checking out flights and hotels for our Cork weekend away in June– she's had family over from abroad so I've forgiven her and she's promised to sort something out when the family return home this week.
I bought a top from M&S from the clothes budget last week - £19.50 so I thought I'd better buy it before my size sold out! Can wear it for work as well as play!
I'm up to just over £19 with PA, Optimum just over £20 still (£24 to pay out) so slogging away! I'm beginning to give up with the others - they're just taking too long.
Agenda for this week – nails on Wednesday and then I'm taking a friend out for lunch on Saturday for her birthday present.
Since brizzle posted about FIRE on her diary I'm really going to make a concerted effort to bulk up the retirement fund. I'm definitely going to fund it with £500 each month and hopefully as much as I have left over. I'm setting my target amount for £20,000 by April 2021 and will amend my signature accordingly.
Have a good Tuesday everyone!

Your retirement fund savings sound very sensible, you'll thank yourself when you retire :T.

Thanks redo and Hairy!
The first big result on the pension!:j. The money has arrived into my workplace pension and the balance is looking good! :j
So one down and two transfers to go!:D
Up to just over £20 with PA so will wait till it goes up a little further before payout so that I get the full £20.
Lovely sunny day today - it was so nice walking home from the station in the light - even though it still felt nippy.
Work wasn't too bad at all today seeing it was the last day of this tax year. We were ahead of ourselves work wise for a change!
I treated myself to the Frugalwoods' book today on kindle but no other spends.
Went to the docs though this morning for my annual check up with the nurse re meds etc. My bloods and blood pressure were ok although my thyroid levels were down for the first time in years. She is going to up my med doseage here. But she said I should start to feel less tired (thank goodness) and it may help with my weight loss, which would be a great help as my diet motivation is at a standstill currently! Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟
