If you're not bothered about going then it's definitely not worth paying for. You have better uses for your money :).

That's why we have our work do at lunchtime. The young ones and die hard party animals can then stay on while the lightweights like me go home with the sober people just going home from work :)

A sparkly top is always a versatlie addition to a wardrobe, even with jeans to dress them up.

I have my sparkly top and posh frock from last Christmas in the wardrobe with the tags still on as I broke my ankle at the end of November and didn't get to wear them. At least I don't have to buy new ones this year :)

    Glad the Pilates went well.

The Pilates sounded good , am sure you will benefit it from it. I never go on works Christmas do as they go to a famous seaside town not far away , stay in a hotel where the entertainment is and then roll home next day worse for wear.

I am going on the Christmas lunch instead. Love the idea of your leggings they are so comfortable.

I rarely went to my last emplyer's Christmas do. It started at 2 with fizz, you finally ate around half three and were seated in accordance with a pre determined seating plan drawn up by one of the PAs. It was more about show than enjoyment.

Think of all the money you save by not going.

DH and I don't have a work Christmas do as we are self employed. It would be funny if we did wouldn't it :rotfl:.

Hope you have somd good stuff planned for today SSG.

It’ll be like wearing just bought togs SA - at least you haven’t had to splash out again this year!:D

I go on the team Xmas lunch Cumbria and inod. I actually enjoy that part of our works festivities. Eleven of us are off to a nice restaurant nearby, the secret Santa’s are exchanged and we don’t go back to work after the lunch but have drinks and then people toddle off home about 6pm. The bosses very kindly pay for us as well.

Hairy - if you would like us to pop round to make up the numbers at your works Xmas shindig with you and OH, I’m sure it can be arranged!:D

    What’s been happening:

Sunday - caught up with the bits in the Xmas cleaning project that were applicable to me including sorting out my bookcase and the cookery books in the kitchen. Only got rid of two of my beloved books in the bookcase but was more ruthless with the cookery books. I really hardly use half of them so a nice little bundle produced for the charity shop. :). Wrapped a few more pressies - this is going very well this year! Ended up a NSD.

Monday - was off work as I attended a funeral - the mum of DSis’s best friend who was also a neighbour and whom I knew since my teens. The service was very moving - she had been married 67 years and had a very happy marriage. Just taxis fares spent today.

Tuesday - back to a busy workplace. Only coffees at lunchtime paid out.

Today - £1 in a collection at work today for two colleagues who are marrying - proper office romance! :). Other spends were nails this evening.

I’ve still a couple of pressies to get - one of my besties loves L’Occitane smellies and I got a 20% discount voucher through the post to spend on Friday so I’ll get her present then.

Tesco have a 25% offer on six bottles of their finest Prosecco so I’m going to order some when I get my big shop this week as these will come in very handy for pressies.

The Xmas trees are going up at various places near to where I work - they look lovely so it’s finally really feeling like i:xmastree:

I've gone to being quite positive to absolutely negative. Somebody pointed out yesterday that my hair has got really thin. I am aware of this – it's being happening over the last few years, but it's the first time that somebody has actually mentioned it, apart from my family and friends as I do discuss it with them. I've looked into a solution and in fact some months ago splashed out and went to the clinic of a well-known trichologist who carried out tests on me – all ok (including ferratin iron levels), apart from my Vitamin D levels which were down and for where I have been regularly taking a supplement since then. They prescribed me a minoxidil solution (which is basically what Regaine is) but nothing happened even though I took it for some months. Its thinning more on top now – I've been using thickening fibres on it but that's not sorting out the problem. There is a well know hair specialist who does a hair weave but the cost is extortionate and you obviously have to go back regularly to have it maintained. Although I could scrimp and probably manage it going forward it's not a solution as when I retire I won't be able to afford it! There have also been quite a few negative reviews on the web as well about how it actually pulls more hair out.

It's also hit me a bit as Christmas is drawing near that it will be the first time I won't be spending it with DD as they are going away this year and also for the New Year. I know I've been extremely lucky with this as quite a few families have to split up for Christmas due to other obligations, etc, but its brought me down quite a bit the last few days.

I had a very restless night last night, woke up at 2am and didn’t get back to sleep until after 4.30am. I was then up at 6am. Accordingly, I feel absolute !!!! today in work.

Still enough of my woes – I'm very lucky in so many ways when you look at this world.

Got paid today although technically new month starts tomorrow on the 25th.

There's not been really any Scrimpy Negatives I can think of over the last month. Positives are:

    • My trip with DD to Riga – actually came back with Euros.
    • Enjoyable day at the Christmas Show with friends – didn’t spend as much as I did last year.
    • £8 M&S loyalty voucher arrived;
    • Travel insurance renewed and actually got it less than last year.

Will buy bestie's L'Occitane pressie today with 20% off voucher. Have to splash out on hand cream and new hairbrush today as well. Apart from that no other spends today.

I sit next to someone who has thinning hair at work, I would never mention it to herunless she brought it up in conversation. I have no answers to the problem but don't let it make you feel negative and sad.

If DD is away for Christmas who will you be spending it with !?

I can't believe someone would be so insensitive that they would mention your hair :( Is this person perfect - I doubt it. Try to ignore the negative comments and focus on the positives in your life xx

I also can't believe how insensitive someone has been to mention your hair.

What style hair do you have?
I always think a shorter style does not show up the thinning quite so much as you can see bits of the scalp all over rather than in one place.

What colour hair do you have? I'm wondering if a hair colour which is not too far away from your own skin colour would work? I'm thinking of light skinned people having very black hair, it's always obvious if they start thinning on top but if they have a lighter brown or even blonde it would not be as obvious.

Have you spoken to your hairdresser about this? Maybe she/he could recommend some styles which would suit your hair type.
