Thanks everyone!Sun_Addict wrote: »Well done on adding to your workplace pension
I think I can increase the percentage of salary I pay into mine but I can't add cash - it's a civil service pension.
SA – Is it because it is a final salary (DBS) pension? If so it's still worth its weight in gold!:)Keeping_Motivated wrote: »Thank you so much. I did once look at YNAB but I must need a dummies guide as I found it hard to work out  it would definitely be good for me though as I would like to be more clear of where I am and also where I waste money.
I do already cook from scratch and take left overs for lunches. I don't buy coffees out anymore as I invested in my own machine BUT I know we spend far too much on snack type food i.e. nipping to the shop for treats probably most evenings  wheres the greedy emoji!
I think if we actually saw how much we spent on junk it would keep us more accountable in that area.
Thanks again
Keeping Motivated – a budget category for snacks would stand you in good stead. You could set an initial budget for these of what you think is acceptable and see how you get on for the month! It is quite an eye opener at times what you think you spend on things and what you actually spend!
Good luck with it!:)
I've bought two long sleeved thermal t-shirts and two pairs of thermal tights from M&S. I also bought a new mattress protector as my old one which I've had for a few years was getting rather tired and I wanted one that was deeper so that it fitted better over my mattress and mattress topper. I had £35 left from my M&S vouchers so ended up paying £45 for all of the above. Also bought the cards from Clinton's. And £0.99 on an Itunes download of a song I heard whilst watching 'Silent Witness' last night – I got the Shazam out and it was called 'Killing Me' by Luke Sital-Singh – beautiful!:)Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

I loved that song on Silent Witness but had no idea what it was & had no idea how to find out.I am a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Mortgage Free Wannabe & Local Money Saving Scotland & Disability Money Matters. Beanie - I downloaded the Shazam app onto my phone a while ago. It's free and it's great. If you hear a song being played either on the TV or perhaps when you are out in a coffee shop, say, you open the app, tap it and point your phone towards where the sound is and hopefully the name of the track and the name of the artist appears. It does have to be something that has been recorded though - it wouldn't work if you were listening to a live act.
I have an iPhone and the app will also direct you to iTunes so you can download straightaway if you want. You can also get the app through other types of phones - my DD recommended it to me as she had it and she hasn't got an iPhone.

My OH has used Shazam for years and reckons it’s still one of the best apps ever invented.
Sounding good SSG, I can recommend the new M&S think thermals. MIL got me some basics for Christmas and they are fab. Especially under armless summer dresses... (as I am currently trialling)
Have a good day. Greetings from a grey Kilburn0 -
And yes that’d be thin not think! God damn the autocorrect and lack of ability to edit a post on the phone

And Keeping Motivated - YNAB is a total game changer. I’d take up a free trial if I were you and give it a go. It’s been the making of a new approach to money for my OH in particular but yes, have to admit, me as well0

Hi brizzle - thanks for stopping by! Yes it's a grey old day here in London - and it has now started to drizzle!
The M&S thermal t-shirts are lovely - nice and thin, but very soft! I bought one grey and one black. I must start to make a list of everything I'm taking on holiday - I do have a master list tucked away that I update as appropriate each time I go away and it comes in very handy.:)
I tried the Aldi Sweet Potato Burgers last night for dinner. They were really nice - quite thick and only £1.59 for two!:)
And Opinium are finally back on line - when I checked last night I had £27.75 in cashback so have transferred £25 across to my bank to add to savings. They've been offline for over a week due to 'maintenance upgrades' - which has basically resulted in them confirming that payments will now take up to four weeks to reach your account, rather than under a week as before!:mad:Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

I agree about the damp, grey day. Yuk.
I see the plant based diet is still going well.
Have you tried Ald1 frozen brown lentils with sun-dried tomatoes in tahini. Really good, high in protein, and a lovely standby. I've been known to have it with a handful of spinach and two eggs cracked over the top. Total yum and ready in minutesIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Thanks for the recommendation DIA - I will definitely try these! I'm going to have to research Aldi's frozen aisle a bit more closely!
I've bought quite a few of their rice/grain microwave packets. These are all tasty and half the price of similar products at other supermarkets!:money:Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟
