I didn't get home till after 9pm last night as I had my hair appointment – whilst I was on the train home a friend rang me to let me know that one of our other friend's throat cancer had returned – they have given her a 6 to 12 months life span unless she has a operation on her throat which would mean fitting a voice box. She was always adamant that she never wanted to go down that route, but apparently she has been told that it will contain the cancer. She is a lovely person - now in her 70's – very kind and so elegant. She has been unable to eat properly for a couple of years now, but always cooked up a storm whenever we all went round to hers for an evening- she was a chef before she retired. She also nursed her own husband through the same cancer. Her eyes also started to deteriorate badly a few years ago but she stills manages so well. She is going to the consultant today to go decide on her options – I'm going to call her tonight to see how she got on - it's so sad.
Moneywise yesterday – the only spends were budgeted spends:-- Hair Highlights and Cut - £146.- yeah I know, I know! But I won't be changing my hairdresser of eighteen years standing as I only trust him with my thinning locks!.
- Half-yearly Service Charge For my Flat -£502.70. I also received an extra bill yesterday from the managing agent for an additional £61.67 "balancing payment" – so I've got this to pay as well now. I'll take it from the Service Charge pot, but will have to increase the monthly contribution to take it into account and even it all out
Today - I'm glad it's Friday today – boss is out of the office but left me lots to get on with. I won't be spending anything today, so a NSD.Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

I'm sorry about you friend's cancer SSG. That's very sad news, I wonder what she will decide.
As you've worked hard to be not only debt free, but mortgage free as well, I think you're allowed to spend money on hair treatment that makes you feel good.

Sorry to hear about your friend SSG , cancer affects so many people it's so sad , I am sure she will be glad to have a friend like you around.
I am sure your hair looks amazing , you do live in an expensive part of the country so I guess everything is dearer.
Driving SSG is something I am so glad I do, it is my independence and takes me on adventures. I am off to my little piece of heaven tomorrow, Windermere can't wait.

Sorry to read about your friend. Must be such a difficult decision for her to make.
Coffee pods are great, I worked somewhere that had a nespresso and it was tons better than instant. I don't mind the coffee bags or single filters either, anything is better than basic instant. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

So sad to hear about your friend....life can be so cruel
I’m liking the adhoc spending idea.
I’m not sure I could do the lower calorie days of the 5:2 diet....saying that I’m struggling with my SW at the moment....which I can usually do easily if I put my mind to it:oJanuary spends - £587.580 -

Thank you Hairy. The cost includes tip for hairdresser and junior. He always throws in a free conditioning treatment. He is based near work, but tbh all the decent local salons near my home charge around the same as him for cut/highlights.Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

Hi Cumbria - I agree with you that I would like the independence of being a motorist - but not the cost! I do hope you have a wonderful weekend up in the fells - I know how much you love it up there in the Lakes. Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

Hi redo and milann
Redo - the coffee pods at work are working out wonderfully - I'm really enjoying having a good cup of coffee in work - I'm going to research to see if buying them on Amazon works out economically. At the last firm I was at they had a fantastic big coffee vending machine that made the coffee from real beans and was free. It was great! When I moved to my current firm I asked if we could hire one for the staff. The facilities manager looked into it and said it would blow his budget so that was that. Shame! I didn't like working at my last firm though - the coffee machine was the best bit of it!:D
Milann - I couldn't do the low calorie days at the weekend! It's not so bad during the weekdays as I keep busy at work and find it relatively easy, but I do have to watch myself in the evenings though!:DFinally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

All sounding good SSG, apart from your friend. Horrible. So cruel.
Your savings are looking very healthy.
I am looking at the Keto diet and more exercise next...something to regulate my sugar crashes would be good and I am sure much better for me. But all good with the LP plan at the moment, onwards and upwards
Have a great eve x0
