She does sound odd! I can only imagine she's had some bad experience in the past which has made her paranoid about other people giving her details out?

It's because she thinks everything should go through her.

So why would you still want to be touch with such a person?

To be honest, I don't have any friends that behave the way she does, it's only because it's family that I've tolerated it.

I never give out anyone else's address (postal or email) or telephone number without checking it's OK to do so first.

I'll maybe say 'put a stamp on the card and I'll address and post it' or something similar.

I would not be happy if someone had given my address or phone number to someone else and that includes family who don't know those details.

But what's done is done, I guess.

Several people have posted something similar, that they wouldn't be happy if someone gave out their address.

If you have a name you can find an address on-line from the electoral register or land registry.

If you know their birthday as well it's even quicker - it's all a matter of public record.
One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.

That takes positive action & effort and - imho - is very different from just asking for contact details.

I'm ex-directory and guard my landline number carefully (and I get very few cold calls) and rarely give out my mobile number to anyone.
I'd be furious if someone I'd given either of those numbers to were to just pass it on to someone who'd asked - regardless of the reason why they wanted it - instead of asking me if it was OK first.

    See, I don't get this.

Why would you put up with something just because it's a family member?
I tend to agree with Lily-Rose about cutting family members who are bothersome out of your life.

:T It isn't easy Pollycat, but once you do it, you never look back! :rotfl:

For all the reasons I mentioned in my post (No 10.) my life is so much more relaxed without toxic extended family members.

Proud to have lost over 3 stone (45 pounds,) in the past year! :j Now a size 14!

    You're not singing anymore........ You're not singing any-more! :D
  • Could the pop up box card with a dog on it have been the problem? It sounds a bit twee to me.

I would have preferred something a bit humourous - perhaps risque!. ..

Try sending an 'I'm sorry ' card emblazoned with a cheeky chimpanzee picking his big red bottom.

If this fails, delete them from your life.

Anybody who doesn't see the joy in a cheeky chimp isn't worth knowing.

    Hope this helps.

It wasn't twee, I don't do twee, lol..

I've decided just to leave her to get on with it, I wouldn't tolerate her antics off a friend so I don't think I should off a family member.
