Unable to provide renewal quote

I have been insured with Hastings Direct for 2 years now, with my renewal due at the start of October.
I have just received an email telling me that they are unable to provide me with a renewal quote.
I have rang their helpline who said they don't know why it has not been offered, just that none of the underwriters were willing to accept the insurance.
I have had two minor incidents while insured by them. A small accident in 2014 reversing in a car park (only minor damage to both cars and I didn't claim for my repairs) and someone rolled into the back of my car earlier this year while I was waiting at some traffic lights - not my fault but no damage done so again no claim made.
What confuses me is that I have got a quote through my bank with no problems - how come those underwriters were happy but Hastings were not?
I did question the renewal quote last year from Hastings and actually got nearly £150 off their initial quote - could that be the reason?

Move somewhere else or get a quote online as a new customer"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

Don't worry I have already changed (and they were a lot cheaper than I paid last year)0

Hastings are a Broker, perhaps the underwriter has withdrawn capacity from them?
Or, perhaps those incidents (minor or not, they happened) now put you outside the insurers risk appetite?
Regardless, as you've stated you've sourced alternate cover elsewhere.
As to your question why did the new insurer accept you and Hastings didn't; each insurer has their own criteria as to what is acceptable. You've become unacceptable to the insurer behind Hastings (and they can't rebroke you elsewhere) hence the decline.
One last consideration; if you were asked when taking out the new policy for any claims OR INCIDENTS you need to disclose the minor incidents you have had, regardless of whether you claimed.0 -
My wife had two no fault claims in two previous years, her insurer and one other refused to quote.
She has never had a fault accident and has 7 years protected NCD."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi
