Grounds for rejecting a car

I dropped the general manager an email this afternoon.
A very quick reply: he said he has no record of my email from last month (my email today forwarded the one from last month) but that in any case he thought the garage manager had dealt with the issues. He'll chase it up and get back to me by tomorrow.
Even though the reply was short, the tone was very apologetic and I got the sense that, like me, he wasn't pleased either. Let's see what comes back tomorrow.0 -
I'd be tempted to do directly to Renault UK outlining the problems you've had, the visits the cars had for attempted repairs etc and get them to start handling it0

I'll see what comes back tomorrow. If it's the case that AC have had word from Renault about a fix, and it's simply been a communication breakdown (no pun intended) then that's fair enough, albeit irritating that things could have been sorted by now.
I wonder if a "goodwill gesture" might be in order...0 -
I have similar problems with a Fiat 500L. Nothing but praise for the garage from which it was purchased, they have/are doing all that they can. They returned the car to a Fiat dealership - well it was in the past but no longer is, but the only place locally that could deal. Things have gone from bad to worse, they car was given to them on 15th October 2016 - last update just before Christmas, many 'parts' have been returned to Fiat Italy, as the problem cannot be solved - to do with computer and engine modules.
I tell you this, so that I can tell you what has worked for me:
I contacted the Finance Company who in turn contacted the seller, my main complaint was lack of regular information.
Met with 'high ups' in Selling Garage and was given 3 options: Wait and see what happens!. choose another car and transfer finance; or Reject the car and receive all payments back.
My car was 3 years' old, 24000 miles. The only problem at purchase was a missing battery in remote that turned into - all the insides of the Remote missing - obviously the previous owner was aware there was a major problem!
Hope this might help.0 -
That's a good idea re the finance company. After all - it's technically their car.
No email from AC yesterday, but I'll give them another working day or two.0 -
Another update.
My car went back in last Monday (16th) and I've got a courtesy car again.
I called last Friday for an update and was told they were waiting to go for another road test. After hearing nothing over the weekend (they work Saturday) I phoned again on Monday. This time I spoke to the garage manager who said they seem to have got rid of the liquid sound (good) and the door vibration (good) but not the dash vibration.
I've now heard nothing since.
I'm just wondering how much long I should give this? The agreement sheet for the courtesy car has Friday as the return date - presumably that means I won't be insured after then, unless it's extended.
I'm also concerned about the time it's taking to try and fix a vibration. On one hand I can understand them wanting to be absolutely sure it's gone, given they're on their last chance, but at the same time surely a new car shouldn't need this much effort?0 -
Hi Guys
Quick question I wasn't refused finance on a car that I looked at however, I was told the finance company will increase the monthly payments from £120 (which I agreed in the car store) to £195 per month. Can anyone tell me why this would happen?
I am really annoyed that they have increased the payment and I was not given an explanation.0 -

You did not meet the lending criteria for their lowest payment.0 -

Why did you put this at the end of a thread that your post has absolutely no relevance to?BeenThroughItAll wrote: »You did not meet the lending criteria for their lowest payment.
