Self Employed - Printing Costs
LotsToDo
I set myself up as self-enployed a couple of years ago and all is going well. I have a new piece of work which requires me to use my own printer to print documents. Does anybody have any idea what I should charge per sheet of A4 paper printed paper?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Do you mean charge to your customer or to the business?Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

I mean to charge my Client, so that I am not incurring the costs.

It depends on the quality of paper you are using, if it's a high end printer or a cheap one, the type of ink it uses etc.
Basically how much does it cost you to use the machine?0 -
You need to cover ink costs, paper costs, machine depreciation costs, servicing costs and admin costs.
I suggest that you cant charge £1 a sheet, but 10p a sheet is probably to little. Somewhere in the middle is about right, I guess.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
Mono laser vs colour inkjet will make a difference. Quantity will make a difference. If it's a sheet or two here or there, let it slide as a cost of doing business. If it's half a ream a week then do a deal with a local copy shop and just expense the receipt.0

It's hard to say without knowing exactly what you're providing.
If it's some sort of printing service, then yes charge per sheet - you can look at local print / photocopying shops for price guidance.
If the printing is incidental to providing a different product or service then, unless you're doing vast quantities, I would include it in your base price, and not make a specific charge per sheet.0
