    to be honest it does not take much CPU power to run these wipe programs.

    You could connect it up to even a small cheap raspberry-pi via USB using a few USB external cases and powered hub and let it run.

    Nope (wrong forum) ;) they are still charging, but they have another brand which IS offering free Credit checks.
