Unlimited data on 3 PAYG is 25 squid, with 300 mins and 3000 texts

but you cannot tether the unlimited data - read the t&cs - Share your phone’s internet with other devices such as tablets and laptops. This can be really handy when you’re away from a WiFi network. You can use all of your data allowance as a personal hotspot unless you’ve chosen a plan with All-you-can-eat data in which case you can use up to 30GB of this each month as a personal hotspot allowance in the UK.

How to get free Three WiFi:

Get the Three all-you-can-eat data tariff,

Pick up an older Mobile phone (has to be a mobile,)

Make sure it's got android 4.4 or LOWER on it.

    Turn on tethering.

Connect devices to the tethering phone.

    ???

    Profit ;)

Android OS's earlier than 4.4 didn't distinguish between "Tethered" data and Mobile data, it all went through as mobile data so the "tethered" allowance is never touched.

After 4.4 Android introduced a "tethering flag" which is added to data sent via a tethered device. It's possible to remove this flag (or disable it) but it involves rooting the phone and changing a few database fields.

    PERFECT explanation, thank you

Everybody thinks the networks do deep packet inspection etc etc to determine if you're teathering.
That's what they would like yo uto think but simply isnt the case, as S0litere correctly stares above, teathered data is simply flagged as such by the OS.

Get a galaxy s2 for 50 squid off ebay

    *note*

I DID have problems with Windows PC's and tethering IF I connected the phone directly to the PC via USB and use it as a internet connection.

It saw the phone as a USB Modem and so turned on a tethering flag (Think the Windows PC itself turned on a tethering flag rather than the phone, so it is harder to by-pass when connected via USB). Linux PC's never had this problem though ;)

If you only use WiFi tethering you should be fine.

If it works, it looks the perfect solution for the OP., as long as they aren't already stuck in an existing contract.

Do you get BT Wifi/Fon in your area?

Rather than faf around with slow mobile broadband you can just buy a Fon account and use any nearby BT Openreach connected device.

I live on a narrowboat in the middle of the country side so bt is not an option .
