Good to see I am not the only one who would prefer not to have christmas stock all around us in shops in September as soon as summer ends. This is one of my pet hates. Christmas fever seems to start earlier every year. It's true that the shops wouldn't stock it if people didn't buy it but the fact that it's on the shelves pressurises people into buying early, especially with the "don't leave it too late, only 15 weeks left till Christmas" messages:rolleyes:
I refuse to be dragged into the frenzy and won't buy anything "Christmassy" until December at the earliest.
Not only that, the clock's 'a ticking towards the start of the "who can get the most lights on their house so that it's visible from outer space" competition. One house in my neighbourhood (though out of sight from my house thank God) has already started the annual festive lights marathon on their house. The decorations get more and more tacky with each passing year - some people just don't appreciate that less is more:rolleyes2
Christmas has long since ceased to be a Christian celebration and is now just one huge money-making enterprise. Come Christmas time, I'm sick to the back teeth of it and can't wait for it to be over.
However, contrary to my normal attempts to save the planet, I do like to see a few lights outside at Christmas tho. . .
