The only argument here is that I packaged my item in excess of the requirements and it got damaged.0

Well thats your view, not an argument.
Even on the small item packaging which IMO isnt the spec you should have met,1cm of bubblewrap all around?
You still havent answered about the trolleys you packet would have traveled in.0 -
I agree its always great when someone comes along and tells you what you want to hear.Think I'll wait for some less defeatist responses if it's all the same - this is a consumer rights board after all  I'm not in the habit of writing of 50 quid just because the Royal Mail have played football with my items.
Not sure why you assumed I'd not already compensated the buyer
That way you can feel good about all the injustice in the world.0 -
EDIT: I'm out.
I'll be sure to let you know how I get on.

If you disagree with RN decision you are of course free to start legal proceedings and you might actually win because RM might deem it not worth the hassle to contest the case. Then again they might.0

I regularly deal with sending and receiving electrical components and the packaging you described is nowhere near adequate. Wrapping in cardboard first gives a solid surface to cause an impact to the card and a padded Jiffy bag is not solid enough for outer packaging. If you had first put it in an anti-static bag (as all components should be transported or stored) then wrapped in bubble wrap and then an outer hard shell of cardboard, preferably a sturdy box then it wouldn't have got damaged unless stood on or some other force as strong.0

Items must be securely placed in a strong, rigid outer container e.g. corrugated fibreboard box and cushioned to avoid movement.
You didn't put it in a rigid, outer container. You put it in a padded envelope. Therefore insufficient packaging.
You were lucky that the other package, which went a different route presumably, wasn't damaged.0 -
Anything that could potentially be snapped should be put in a box at a minimum. PC components should also be sent in an anti static bag. Then once it's in this bag bubble wrap it and then in a box. An envelope is no where near sufficient enough for that item. Take it from someone who has to post a lot of items and as of yet hasn't had any complaints about my packaging. Suffer the hit, learn a lesson and don't do it again in the future.
However you don't seem to be happy that people have disagreed with you so I expect you to ignore this post too.0 -
What damage has actually happened? Is it just the metal plate that secures the card to the chassis (your photo of the damaged one seems to concentrate on that area)?
If so you can just remove the two screws, straighten the plate (or replace with a new one) and screw back on.0 -
Hello, I'm not sure how to create a new thread and not sure if someone could help me.
It's regarding special delivery Royal Mail as well but in my case is regarding a document not received from Legalisation UK (Milton Keynes) via Royal Mail. It has been more than 2 months waiting for a simple document to be legalised and today I've filled the Royal Mail online claim (P58-uploaded receipts). It says it will take another 30 days for investigation. I was wondering if someone else went through similar process and if Royal Mail was able to find the lost pre-paid special delivery.
Thank you in anticipation,
Daliflor0
