I guess young teenager. Can't possibly be an adult, can it?

Whatever, I'm confident if I subjected all your posts through a stylometry program and that of a certain "swifty numbers" we'd have a 100% match ;)

This conversation can serve no purpose any more, goodbye.

So, back to the adult's conversation....

I would avoid anything with 2GB of RAM and a 32GB storage unless it was very cheap. Couple that with a Celeron processor and you'll be asking for trouble.
Give yourself a bit of headroom.

The DELL combo is good kit, though with all parts; Tablet, dock and keyboard, a bit above budget at around £210. But you can skip the Docking station and search on eBay for a cheaper keyboard.
Tablet weighs 800 grams, so of solid construction. But maybe she might consider that heavy.

There is no phone or tablet that "replaces" a laptop. If she's doing a lot of typing or production work then she'll want a 2in1/hybrid laptop - not a tablet.

A tablet is more like a blown up phone than a reduced laptop. You also have "phablets" which try and strike a balance between the two form factors.

In hybrids you have the ACER Aspire Switch 11 V, Asus Transformer Book T100HA, Dell XPS 13 9343, HP Spectre x360, as well as the Microsoft Surface series.

In Windows tablets you have the DELL Venue 10 pro 5056, LENOVO Yoga Tab 3 and the Nokia Lumia 2520.

If you want to go Apple, Android or Linux then it's a different story.

Some strange bedfellows you have there and some are way over budget. Whilst the DELL Venue Pro 10 utilises Windows proper, the Lumia 2520 uses RT. So personally I would skip over the 2520. The DELL Venue 10 pro 5056 is just way over budget.

The Dell Venue 11 Pro 7130 above for £138 at least can make financial sense and you get a good spec for the money. Even though just 3G WWAN as opposed to 4G, it's a whole lot better than nothing.
But if you don't want the 3G card installed, the price, including delivery, drops to £125.34.

    Hi guys

My sister wants to replace her old laptop, basically she wants something to send and check emails on, internet and basic word processing, and printing documents. originally was thinking about laptops, but then thought would be more useful if it was portable so considering a Tablet

Ive never really got into tablets myself, so not sure how easy they are for word processing and printing for example

any ideas on which would be best in your opinion? and any suggestions? She doesnt want to spend loads of money on either tbh.
    Thanks

What laptop does she have now?

    Thanks for the replies!

She has a Dell, at the moments, its years old now, cant even remember what the model etc is to be honest.

I think a hybrid 2n1 is likely what they'd need if they want word processing too, but I doubt id convince them to spend much money on one.

It will have a Service Tag underneath. Maybe that can be brought up to spec for just a few pounds.

The problem with cheap hybrids are that they are cheap hybrids.

To be honest, I'm not sure why she needs a Tablet at all. But if she really wants one then get one with a decent spec that will be a pleasure to use. Otherwise it will soon be discarded.

    Since the DELL is designed for business use, you'll find plenty of reviews around Such as;

    Dell Venue 11 Pro 7139 £150

    http://www.pcworld.com/article/2465752/dell-venue-11-pro-7139-security-review-supremely-powerful-and-super-secure.html

Of course overkill, but you get a lot more for your money.

But for simplicity, perhaps the ASUS in Fightsback's link will suffice for her needs and is within budget.

    Thanks...

To be honest, I was me that first sugested a Tablet, mostly as she linked me to a Laptop with 2gb ram and it was cheap, Idont know much about tablets to be honest, I thought they'd be quicker/last longer but I'm porbably wrong on that.

If theres any laptop suggestions i'd happily show them

Come back with the Service Tag of her DELL laptop. That will give an idea of the current performance level and how much of an improvement a new laptop will be.

I think, they extended their budget a little, and likely decided on one of these
    http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/toshiba-click-10-lx5w-c-109-10.1-2in1-touchscreen-atom-z8300-4gb-ram-64gb-pdw0ge-00x01lns/version.asp?refsource=LDadwords&cr!!!!!LD&refsource=Ldadwords&gclid=Cj0KEQjwsO6-BRDRy8bsxfiV2bkBEiQAF8EzKDEMvfBxOh9Vj0GfU_SMdWRwGhC05mwTJGptVms94BAaAqLx8P8HAQ

I know they arent amazing, and can get a better laptop for similiar price, but as they want something more portable, and for basic web browsing, emailing and printing this seems ok I'd have thought?
