Breakfast

This does not really relate to overseas holidays but I wasn't sure where to put it.

We occasionally stay in hotels where part of the breakfast is buffet but with the chance to order a cooked breakfast (which I usually do). I'm never sure which order to eat the breakfast in though. Other meals are simple .... starter, main, dessert but breakfast isn't as clear. Can anyone help.

We're due to stay at a hotel next week so, for once, I'd like to be doing it correctly.

Here are the options:

Cereal
Yoghurt
Fruit
Pastries
Toast/Marmalade
Cooked Breakfast

Hope I've not missed anything.

Thank you.

I normally have cooked, toast/bread/cakes, fruit n yoghurt.

Don't eat cereals in hotels as I eat them at home.

  • Surely if you have the cooked breakfast you won't need the rest apart from maybe the fruit juice.

My OH will have a full English but I often have Eggs Florentine or something similar so do have room left for other things.

    Where's the fun in that?

Where's the fun in over-eating just because you *think* you've paid for it.

The menu of a decent hotel would say 'from' thus indicating that one is not expected to indulge in gluttony but to have a selection based on preference.

I'm not a breakfast person so I would prefer to have an extra 30 mins in bed. Usually in hotels I will book Room Only.

A big fry-up is OK mid morning but I don't know how anyone could eat one at 7am. I can just about manage a coffee.

When a cooked breakfast is available - or anything hot for that matter, I would have that first accompanied with juice and coffee followed by either fruit or a pastry.

Use the same principle as having a lunch or dinner - main course followed by something sweet.

I usually find that midway through a trip, I too tend to just spend a little bit longer in bed and miss breakfast completely, which is no hardship for me as I usually just have a cup of coffee at home before leaving for work.

Cereal, yoghurt, fruit followed by the fry up
Then get a bacon butty to take out along with more fruit and yoghurt for later :)
Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.

A cooked breakfast is a rare thing for me to have, so assuming it's nicely cooked and i have the time ,I'd have it, as someone else says, I've payed and it keeps me full all day.

Id have orange juice and the cooked breakfast, I generally find the yoghurt and fruit option is preferred by German guests.
I'd have the coffee after , I could have a pastry but I'd probably too full.
