Hi all,
Hoping you can help.
As with most rip-off TV, broadband & phone services we've seen our bill considerably rise (with not that much in our package!) - we hardly watch TV or use landline.
We decided to just cancel after a few phonecalls and them not offering anything better....we'd pretty much be paying the same amount with some teeny changes to our "package".
After a long phonecall we ended up with just been offered to just pay for the broadband, nothing else, saving us a heck of alot but still really tight and rip-off in my opinion.
We are no longer in a contract, so we wanted to cancel everything else with immediate effect - however, they are saying about a 30 day notice and having to pay the next bill!?
Our advance payment bill came out the beginning of the month and expected to last up until 21st of this month.
So completely lost to how this is acceptable!?
Not in contract - cancel services with immediate effect, surely?
I would appreciate any help with this issue.

Just because your minimum term has elapsed, doesn't mean you're "not in contract". Check your agreement, and you will find that after your minimum term has elapsed there will be a notice period to leave - sounds like 30 days.Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.- Mark TwainArguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon: no matter how good you are at chess, its just going to knock over the pieces and strut around like its victorious.0

Thank you for your reply.
I'm still confused however as we are not "cancelling the services" as such, we are amending it....we're just cancelling the phone and TV. And keeping the broadband.
If I was to phone up and amend my virgin media account, adding services for instance, they would not need 30 days notice they would just add it straight on.
Why are basically being told we need a 30 day notice for amending in this instance...? (Another con to make money?)
I understand if we was in the minimum contract period or if we were cancelling everything, but we're not....0 -
we are not "cancelling the services"
But as you say, you are cancelling parts of your service. They are separate services, which is why you can cancel 1 or 2 but keep the other(s).we're just cancelling the phone and TV.
So you are cancelling the phone and TV. As Naf said, you are still in contract, so are still bound by the terms you agreed to when you took it out. They will include a 30 day notice period to cancel. Whether you are in the original minimum term or not is irrelevant in this case as the terms of the contract do not change after 12 or 18 months.0
