Change drive numbers (boot ini) Windows 10

I know Windows 10 does not have a boot ini file, so how do you alter the drive number sequence in windows 10?

eg.
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Win 1" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINNT="Win 2" /fastdetect

How do i change the rdisk and partition number in windows 10?


I have setup a windows 10 PC for a friends kids and want a 2nd partition thats normally hidden so they have a backup. But without having backup discs they can lose etc.

I normally setup the dual boot but it only flashes up for one second and most people do not notice it. But it saves me getting to a dead system if i need to fix something.

You can do it in Disk Manager
(type it into the program bar)

The answer is possibly in the 2nd link, but how do you specify which partition when there is no identifier attached yet?

As in my case install win10 on partition 1, clone to partition 2.

How do i made partition 2 bootable? Because it is a clone of the original, will the identifier be the same? Maybe a sign of my age , but the old system worked for me and i understood it

The driver support seems spot on with windows 10 though, everything i have tried so far has worked just by connecting to the net and selecting update driver.

Do you have a 'BIOS' option, to choose what to boot from?
My boot sequence normally selects DVD, USB then HDD1, so a Linux rescue disk/stick can be selected.

AND/OR a standalone boot manager (I got 3, 2 grub and 1 winx), it seems to like to find them alphabetically, Debian 1st, then Leap 42 & lastly Windows.

Of course the crazy thing to do if you are really stuck is to swap the data cables around if the main one fails, and I can vouch for it's veracity.

So... you're trying to change the Windows 10 boot manager settings?

BIOS is not an option, its a partition not a device. No swapping cables its a single drive with 3 partitions.
