If the the sticker is left in the car in my eyes they are advertising it as having warranty. And as i say we got told it 100% had 5 years warranty.

Contacted Kia on many occasions and the last call we had they gave me a number to contact who are basically a vehicle solicitors, been told by Kia that stone acre have mis sold a car. Stoneacre know they have because when i first conacted them it was " don't worry, we will sort it, here is a courtesy car" as soon as I mentioned trading standards they wanted to wash there hands of it.

Why did you threaten Trading Standards when they were telling you they were going to sort it? Why didn't you hold back in the threat in the event that they didn't come good on it.

They may have decided they were going to sort it out via goodwill, which differs from your opinion, but surely resolution is more important than winning a pyrrhic victory? I would have let them sort it out take the car back and tell them that the 'goodwill gesture' doesn't preclude any other action should the remedy not be effective.

Why use all your weapons at the start. Going out all guns blazing may sound fantastic but it doesn't always work in your favour.

I got a Phonecall from a different "manager" saying they could not take it to another garage to repair it because id already issued a repair request via Perrys.

Stoneacre thought they could take it to a stoneacre/Kia branch at Lincoln and do it on the sly, turns out they can't. That's when I said Iv been talking to trading standards for advice.

spoke to citizens advice, And everything comes under the trading goods act, so hopefully the solicitor I'm contacting will be able to mop this whole mess up

Do Kia dealers really work in the 1970s? Who still has books stamped?

I forgot my service book at the weekend. No bother, when I picked the car up I was given a full print out of both services it has had which were at different dealerships.

    From Kia Warranty:

    Maintenance records
The scheduled maintenance records should be filled in whenever a Kia car goes in for scheduled maintenance.

If you have the records completed the invoice and receipt requirement is over and above what is required - throw this info back at them.

Unfortunately its not the first time I've heard of this with Kia and Hyundai - those extended warranties must be costing them so they need to avoid as many pay outs as possible.

Well either you misunderstood what you were told or the Citizens Advise advisor doesn't know what they're talking about. As I mentioned in my earlier post this will be covered by the SOGA.

But if the vehicles first two services were not completed by a KIA dealer but by a car hire company/independent garage, then I'd imagine that could be a problem.

It shouldn't be. Any independent garage can carry out a service and the warranty shouldn't be affected so long as they follow the manufacturer's service schedule and use manufacturer approved parts.

Sticker on the car is irrelevant, you really can't rely on that as evidence it has a warranty.

Does that mean my '94 525TD isn't still under warranty? Gosh and darn it!

That is the crux of the problem - the OP has no records to show that they did use approved parts and the garage has moved ....

the OP needs to track them down and get confirmation from them as to what was done.

The OP shouldn't need to do that if the seller told him it had the warranty. The garage should be doing all the leg work...
  • OP, who carried out the last service which was under your ownership?
