Do I need TV licence at a shared flat?

I am sharing a student accommodation with 9 other people where there is a TV. I am NOT going to make use of this TV but most of the others are, is it compulsory for me to pay the licence too? Is there a way to justify that I am not using it - other than disability?

If there is just one tv that's communal, it is the premises that need the licence, so it's up to those using the tv to share the cost between them.0
