Clutch Problem

DEpends how mechanically minded you are. They basically go through the bulkhead, clipping onto the clutch pedal at one end and the clutch fork at the other. Ford use a ratchet adjuster on the clutch pedal which you need to reset to remove it. There's nothing frightening about them - they're basically a glorified bicycle brake cable. The biggest problem is getting at the clutch pedal end. It usually involves the skill of a contortionist. When adjusting the cable, just leave a couple of mm play at the gearbox end.
I'd imagine £10-£20 beer tokens would get someone to fit it for you.0 -
If you buy the Haynes Manual for your make and model you will find that it gives instructions with pictures on how to do many jobs on your car. Some will be beyond your capability, but others like oil and filter changing are relatively simple and will save you money.0

Freelander 1.8 Petrol...2000 (X)0 -
I took it to Mr Clutch last night...the slave cylinder mounting bracket has broken.
It's going to cost £275 for the work + £350 for a clutch (if needed)
*This Freelander has to be the worst car for maintenance costs I have ever bought* :mad:0 -
Cable? Slave Cylinder? eh0

Mr clutch are steep in my experience. Take it to an indie and get a quote and what exactly need replacing. Im quite sure you will not get charged as much.0

BulletBob, there's a few LR owners on this forum, and there are loads of independent LR specialists around the country. Maybe if you tell us where you are, someone might recommend a mechanic to talk to?0
