I'm funny about the ironing. It's got to be done. It's like if everything is ironed then everything is ok?

Guess it can be seen as fur coat and no knickers :)

I dunno, I just feel like IM a slob if the ironing isn't done.

No disrespect to those that don't iron, I wish I had that mindset, would make life a lot easier :)

So ironing was done, bathroom scrubbed, two loads of washing plus a dinner from scratch, I'm a bit sore ( that means I've parts throbbing )

Tomorrow is yet another day and I've fingers crossed the fog and rain will !!!!!! off and I will be fit to roar :)

If not , I'll fluff it and settle for a glass of wine :)

Hi friends; I hope everyone is having the best day possible today.:o

Good grief, I go away for a couple of days (short break in Yorkshire) and like Topsy, the thread growed! :D

I've skim-read, but not taken everything in.
I often use a stick and have even tripped over the damn thing!
I use two sticks to get around indoors, and if only I had £1 for every time I've gotten them tangled up with me legs.... :D
Does anyone else do jigsaws? I find they take my mind of how i'm feeling, but are easy on my joints to do. I don't really watch tele much, and like to have my mind engaged, otherwise I sit and *think* (for which read feel sorry for myself).
Yep; Mr LW and I do them together. Currently working on a 1500-piece jobbie which is being an absolute pig to do. The picture has to be of interest to me though, otherwise I can't be bothered with it.;) I know exactly what you mean about *thinking too much* - I do that too, and it can result in some horrendous flashbacks.

Is it wrong to confess that I just don't bother with ironing? I haven't even got round to getting an ironing board yet :o
Not wrong at all; very little gets ironed in the Wolves' Lair; and even then Mr LW usually does it. :o
Btw I read your DIY saga, and kept nodding in agreement - my father was a total perfectionist (gave me hell one time for *only* getting 98% in a maths exam) so I've always had this totally unrealistic expectation of myself that everything I do has to be perfect, and any less isn't good enough. Nowadays if I make an error, I try and tell myself "A blind man would be glad to see it" (one of Mr LW's dad's expressions, I'm told). :o

I took a wee fall earlier today - wretched knee gave under me again.:( No harm done though; I landed virtually on Mr LW's lap, as he was sitting at his computer desk. :D

Anyways, I must crack on; there's a couple more threads I'd like to catch up with, then I have a HM pizza base awaiting it's toppings; if I don't get it done, there'll be no dins tonight! :D
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
  • Good evening.
Am just having a quick read of thread to catch up as not had very good day at all. My own fault really. I decided yesterday that I felt well enough to try a visit to the local town/city as I needed a few things from M&S - they now have a good range of gluten free food. That was ALL I did but was obviously not as well as believed, in fact I did think at one point wasn't going to make it home.:eek:Luckily I a friend caught the same bus and she saw me home - accompanied by strong words about overdoing it!
So this morning even standing up was a problem and putting one foot in front of the other just about impossible.
    One day I WILL learn!!!!
Hope you all have more sense than me.

  • I feel guilty coming on here as I feel well and have good energy, for half a day anyway and that is when I get my jobs done. I am in bed just after 10 and then always up by 5.30, so getting to 1pm is a good 7 1/2 hours work and tbh that is enough at my age. If I went to bed later and got up later then I suppose I would have a more `normal` day. I wake in the night, every single night and sometimes my head is whizzy, if that happens then I turn radio 4 on, very quietly, so I have to focus attention to hear. That works, so I then fall asleep again very quickly. It would be lovely to have a full night`s sleep again

I had to buy a different support a couple of days ago, for my wrist. I tried to help a neighbour unscrew a bit of essential plastic and nothing would move it, except a strong man. In the process I must have twisted my already precarious wrist, it was very painful afterwards but a support from amazon has worked wonders. Just over £6. I wore it today as I had windows to clean and maintain (oil) for winter. I still have it on and it is really good

I tried knitting and manage about 6 rows before my shoulder complains but I will get this poncho finished in small steps, luckily with thicker hand spun shetland wool

I am so sorry to hear that so many of you have real difficulties but at the same time I am uplifted by the absolute positivity coming from you. Key seems to be to learn to go with whatever strikes
  • The hot weather is NOT good for me!

The hairdresser came yesterday - I live in sheltered housing and Mum (who lives just across the road in a different housing block) have a hairdresser come round to cut our hair.....it feels just a little cooler now that I am once again cropped! (Although I wish I could transplant some of the thick hair cut off from the back, and cover up my increasing balding patch near the front!!!!)

The rain has started , so with luck that will cool things too.

Jigsaws?...Yes! I like jigsaws. I need them to be chunky' ones so my fingers can grip them properly ...I have a couple of really beautiful ones that I make up again and again...they are from a company called Wentworth - not exactly money-saving, but they are a joy to make up- and include really clever little shapes as part of the puzzle!

ArthritcOldThing....I think we all feel your pain! I know that I do! You get a morning when you think you actually feel up to going out - just a little ay...and when you get half way you realise that you are going to PAY for that decision!...I hope you got a tasty gluten-free treat from M&S so that there was at least some gain!

Kittie - keep plodding on with the knitting ....that poncho of yours is now 6 rows closer to completion than it was this morning!....I often have to tell myself that just a couple of rows of knitting, or a couple of dozen stitches in embroidery is that much less to do to complete the project - it all counts!.....one problem I have though is that I can fall asleep over my work- and continue working whilst I am asleep and when I wake up I find the pattern is completely wrong! (I have been known to embroider 3 arms on a teddy bear before!...or rib half a row and garter stitch the second half!)

Early night for me tonight - I am exhausted!....Hoping to get some bread baked tomorrow...I CAN bake bread from scratch, but I also have a bread maker - a small one - which is just SO convenient!

Hi Kittie, please don't feel guilty coming here! It is a friendly corner and all are welcome :) LOL you remind me of recently when I saw an acquaintance I hadn't seen for a while, we chatted for ages and she got to the end of telling me some stuff that had happened to her then at the end she added 'but I shouldn't complain, you have had it far worse', when actually I was thinking the same thing in reverse, that what she was going through put my own problems into perspective! I guess that is the thing though. We all have our struggles going through life.

LW yes, I really struggle with perfectionism/fear of failure, to the point that I will hide away from even trying something rather than get it wrong. Another of those times where I have to try and not be hard on myself, because if it were a friend I would tell them that it's better to try and fail than never try at all, you learn more, even if you don't get exactly where you want you will be closer than if you don't try, and that you might end up somewhere else but even better! But I am trying hard to be my own friend, and although my kitchen cabinets have not ended up as well as I'd hoped (the sealant I used made the paint texture go funny  ), now I can see that they might not be perfect but they are better than they were before - let's face it, it is not difficult to beat speckly yellow formica :rotfl: I will post a before and after pic once I've finished.

I had a success today, a few days before I lost my old house I'd been trying to return a faulty item to Amazon, but the courier they sent never turned up. The item in question went into storage with everything else and today I finally plucked up the courage to call Amazon to try and sort it out. I find making calls and stuff like that very stressful, and I got very anxious and upset, but it is all sorted and they are collecting it on Monday :T Once it is safely back at Amazon HQ they will refund me, which will be very handy as I have already had to replace that particular item, it means I will be able to buy the light fittings of my dreams for my living room (£35 from Ikea, my dreams are not very exciting LOL) and will have £55 left to put away for a rainy day. To a lot of people that would be such a minor thing they would not think twice, but to me that counts as a major victory :T Not so much because I will be able to get a refund but because I managed to conquer myself enough to sort it out.

I hope that all of you not feeling unwell or having bad days feel better soon :grouphug: ArthriticOldThing I think most of us have been there, sorry your day out ended that way, take care xx
  • Thank you for your support and sympathy.
Apologies for yesterday's moan but was feeling very sorry for myself, quite wrongly really as overdoing things - and suffering the consequences - is something most of us have to learn to live with.
Prinzessilein, I did indeed manage to get a few supplies from M&S, with me it is a once a month effort to stock up a bit with a few interesting food items. Most of my shopping is done online.

That is a very familiar scenario with me .....if I don't trip myself it's some unsuspecting person! I can even fall over the wheelie walker thingy!!!!!

Larumbelle - congratulations on getting success with Amazon.

Anyway, it's a new day, the sun is shining and I feel much better this morning. Think the washing machine is calling. Bye for now.
