profiteering

Has anybody else noticed the blatant profiteering by the holiday companies for the supposed safer security countries. It is quite obvious to me that holiday companies are cashing in on the fact that some countries are safer to travel to than others. My example is two years ago we booked flights with BA to Orlando in the easter holidays which is traditionally the same price as summer holidays for £2400 for a family of 4. Next year the best price they can now do is £4700. Even with a high inflation rate this is a joke. Also other countries on Thompson and other reputable companies are stupid money for august where some countries IE turkey and eygpt are cheaper. Looking forward to your thoughts and shall we start a petition on social media or here to highlight this.

I think you'll find it's supply and demand.
Travellers -like your self-who are "nervous" to try anything new (There is more to life than Orlando) are shying away from anything that looks (to them) unsafe.
Turkey is a safe destination in the resorts.
Go on, be adventurous.0 -
been all over the world travelling but don't like the obvious profitieering on all family holidays.0

The Easter period moves, if it is later the prices are sometimes higher.
Package tour operators do get hit for unexpected costs such as the ash cloud and Sharm El Sheik airport security problems. They'll always want to make as much money as possible at periods of high demand and demand shifts.
Local education authorities need to change their approach to school holidays, there's no need to have more than 4 weeks holiday in the summer.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
Why do you need a package holiday to go to Florida? Book it all yourself and save a fortune!0

Go to Turkey, beautiful country, friendly people, fantastic weather and cheap.
Virgin Atlantic shows flights departing on Sun 9 April next year to Orlando for £2880 for 2 adults and 2 young adults. Have you checked any other airlines at all ?0 -
Always book separate flights next summer very dear compared to 2 years ago.0

I know. Been 4 times. Just the prices of certain holidays.0

In case you hadn't realised we live in a democratic market economy; pricing works on a supply and demand basis. Plenty of people are happy to pay these prices - as otherwise they would be lower. The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0

Tour operators, airlines and hoteliers are in businesses with high fixed costs which they have to cover outside the peak periods as well as during them. They have little choice but to make higher profits when demand is highest or they would be losing money. Tui (parent or Thomson) and Thomas Cook net profit margins at the end of the year are in the 5% range (often less).
Security threats hitting demand are a nightmare for their planning, be assured they would be a lot happier if more people were going to Turkey and Egypt rather than all trying to cram into Spain. As mentioned above, pricing is based on competitive environment and customer willingness to pay, inflation barely comes into it.
BA's prices to Orlando will fluctuate between now and Easter as they play with the fare buckets, especially in economy.0 -
Should have set up a poll, always good fun.
Doesn't look like the petition is going to get off the ground.0
