Ok,today is #5.0

One way I'm trying to save the pennies is by religiously using my breadmaker again and trying to stop buying bread.I got out of the habit of using my BM a little while ago,but am determined to use it solely again.
It does add up.0 -

The second NSD remains elusive......yesterday we took DS to move into his student flat, and left the hound with the neighbour. That meant I had to get a small thank you gift for her. Today I was in Tesco collecting something My OH had ordered, and I happened to look upstairs in the clothing dept. Picked up a nice jumper for eight quid and a soft cotton top which was priced at ten quid but when I went to pay it was reduced to three quid. Two additions to my winter wardrobe for eleven quid, can't moan at that!
Between tomorrow and Friday 30th I really must try harder! It will be tough because Wednesday is payday, but I have already made decisions on how to manage finances in the run up to that unmentionable time of year. OH and I treated ourselves a while back to a brand new coffee machine, so will put a limit on what we buy each other for Dec 25th. I am also going to cut back on the food and drink shopping because I always buy too much. It is only a couple of days after all.
I will also try and visit charity shops more often for clothes and presents.
The kitchen cupboards are filling up with jams and chutneys, and this year's alcoholic creation will be Spiced Crab Apple Vodka. Just waiting for the crab apples to ripen first. One life - your life - live it!0 -
Ah,I hope it wasn't too hard to say goodbye to your DS.
Great bargains clothes wise,I must say. :money:
Yes,five days to go until October.Might just be a tad tricky getting three nsds, but you never know.
Spiced Crab Apple Vodka sounds nice and warming. We'll put you in caharge of the punch this year shall we.Tee hee.
PS I hear that Igor is doing porridge?????!!!!!!
They finally caught up with him then.Inspector Swindle must have been a very happy chappy.
Sorry...I feel the pull of silly time dragging me towards the cauldron of doom and Igor's smelly unmentionables.0 -

I think I will aim for 10 NSDs in October.
Spiced Crab Apple Vodka - wash crab apples and pack in a tall Kilner jar. Add a couple of cinnamon sticks, three or four cloves, then about three tablespoonful sugar or honey. Pour in vodka slowly until the jar is full. Put lid on jar, invert it and twirl it around a bit to mix it up. Keep in cool dark place for about two months, turning it every now and then. Strain through a sieve into a jug, then pour through muslin/clean cotton hankie/ any clean cotton cloth (but I draw the line at the old man's underpants) into sterilised bottles. When cool, seal and label. One life - your life - live it!0 -
I was going into town to hit the charity shops today (that's what comes of putting away the summer clothes and realising your winter wardrobe has a few gaps in.) I have just realised I don't need to go out for anything else, so a charity shop run can wait another day. That, and doing tonight's dinner from the fridge and freezer, means today could be my second NSD.
I am slowly getting back into the NSD mind set.One life - your life - live it!0
