Letting someone down gently

Just honesty - firm but gentle. Don't say something which isn't true - otherwise she might find a way to overcome it and then you're screwed!
Simply: "You're a nice person but I just don't have that chemistry with you."' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0 -
Just tell her politely - I doubt very much that she'll be heartbroken!0

As I often do you could look to Homer for inspiration.
"I'm not gay but I'll learn"After years of disappointment with get-rich-quick schemes, I know I'm gonna get rich with this scheme...and quick! - Homer Simpson0 -
Friend Zone her.
Mind you, I genuinely said that I would like to be friends with someone and she was not at all impressed!0 -
This. Make a comment about her good points and that you enjoyed yourself (to save making her feel too bad about herself), but be clear that it just didn't "work" for you.Simply: "You're a nice person but I just don't have that chemistry with you."Do you not know that a man is not dead while his name is still spoken?
― Sir Terry Pratchett, 1948-20150 -
"I'm a 10, you're a 7 at BEST.
You do the math."0 -
Best line I ever got was, "I'm sorry but I'm not as keen as I perhaps should be, but I think you are lovely" Its polite, kind, and nonspecific in fact I've recycled it myself a few time lol!0

1. This thread makes me glad to be a 'senior'.
2. It completely explains the familial instability of current Western society.
What utter madness to consider someone's potential as a possible life partner after just one meeting, entirely based on sexual attraction!
Talk to any couple who have made it through decades of life together; they'll tell you what the important foundations of their relationship were at the beginning and still are today..
