It boils down to the OP doing the following:
-seeking specialist legal advice for this complex situation
-mentally preparing for the possibility of not being able to buy the house and having to move elsewhere.
I personally think the best chance for peace of mind following all this stress would be a complete physical and emotional severance from the family in a neutral space (ie a completely new property). They are an EYESORES!!!!0 -
I have to be honest, with the history of abuse and intimidation, I'm not sure I'd want to still be in the same place when the brother gets out of jail. I wouldn't feel safe knowing he knew where I lived, and the opportunity to move somewhere else where neither brother could find me would help with a fresh start.Mortgage

Shocking some of the replies on here. Doubting the authenticity of her posts simply because you have lived your lives under a rock (or through a computer screen who knows) Never encountering some truly despicable human beings to be able to empathise at all with the OP.
OP I have no advice to offer other than support. I really hope it works out for you in the end. You do come across a very determined person who has been unfortunately dealt a bad hand when it comes to certain family members. Remember addicts are 1 dimensional. No thoughts or feelings for others let alone their own flesh and blood. Whatever happens you will be the better person with them out of your life.0
