Lloyds bank offline

Options
"essential maintenance" tonight means no access to Internet or phone banking and direct debit payments aren't working, makes last minute payments to a CC a bit difficult. The 0345 number on their website is unavailable and when I eventually got through on the 01733 number I was told that notice was given; seems this was a message you might have seen if you'd logged on in the last few days - well I hadn't and there is no message on the website now.
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.

Actually the phone number was my fault, I pressed 00000 instead of 000000. Plus they say DD payments are working, but of course they can't tell me why mine was declined because they don't have access to the systems.

So is this a rant against yourself for wanting to make a payment at the last minute rather than at any point in the last few weeks?
  • It is perfectly acceptable for any website ti be brought down for short periods or overnight or even over a weekend for 'essential maintenance'. They may have sent out emails and will probably have had a message on the site but in the former case you may find it in your spam/junk folder or you may have deleted it; in the latter case it isn't their fault if you did not see the notice on their site.

I am afraid that anything 'last minute' is usually down to the individuals own fault.

In my experience Lloyd's ensure that any planned downtime is in the middle of the night and also give notice. How much do you save by paying your credit card bill at the last moment rather than, say, 4 days before?

Had similar messages on my Halifax account. Closed early hours.

Is it going to happen next weekend also?

I saw the message on Friday when I logged on. It's always going to inconvienince someone when they do these things, I'm sure they choose a time on average with the least amount of disruption. Can't understand how it would effect a DD payment though.

If you are paying a non lloyds CC log into them directly (eg Barclaycard) and make a payment with your debit card.

Not left to last minute to save money but because I was not organised.

That, and the fact that no method of payment I had available worked.

Turning from rant to praise, lloyds have credited £25 and will credit the amount of interest I will be charged. More than I deserve.
