Fibre Broadband & Filtets

Does fibre broadband from BT or Sky require microfilters or does it work the same as Virgin fibre?

Thanks

    It requires micro filters.
  • However these will generally be built into the faceplate of the master socket. I haven't had use external micro filters for several years.

Only if you've had a recent install.

I guess you missed the "several years" bit, BT installed one at least 5 years ago and the updated it when I went fibre about 4 years ago. So not very recent.

I had BT OR out last week (having just gone to fibre) and they just fitted the standard NTE5 socket, which he then plugged my existing filter into.

Perhaps it depends on which OR engineer turns up.

That's poor if your router was next to the master socket
  • Openreach no longer install the SSFP sockets which include the built-in filters. This has been the case since Openreach stopped the engineer-attended install service as of March this year.

If you take out FTTC you will need to plug in a filter, same as you would standard broadband.
