I have a moto 2nd gen phone it has moto alert on it. I have never wondered about this until i returned from Russia to find my Virgin Account blocked due to large bill over £100. I turns out moto alert sends out messages to certain numbers none of which i new about until my account was blocked. On closer examination of my phone usage i had over 300 pages of uasge in July almost all of it wast moto alertsending out meassages on my location to 2 numbers. It was sending out messages in Russia unknow to me.Warning to others dont use alert it cost you money. Wating to here from Lenovo about this and tyring to sort it out with Virgin.:(

You must have done something to activate it no ?
I don't have a Motorola phone myself and can only guess it's something you have to activate.0 -

You can disable it in App settings
also had you 'data roaming' turned ON in mobile settings?

It wouldn't just randomly start sending out alerts though would it, you'd need to designate contacts for it to send the alerts to in the first place?0
