Virgin removing discounts

Options
Hi,

I have just received a letter from Virgin Mobile saying that my loyalty discount has been running too long and that it is '..long out of date' so they are stopping with effect from next month (which will double my bill).

The problem I have is that when I check my account online ut states quite clearly that the discount will be in effect from '9th Jun 2014 to 1st Jan 2037', so my question is can they just do this?

Regards
Marc

There have been quite a few threads on this very subject int he last couple of weeks and the answer seems very much Yes they can.

I rang them and the operator transferred to a better deal that has now kicked in - they had a 'double data' offer at the time however I would have been happy with the standard data for the cost.

    What is your data/minutes/texts requirement?
  • According to \virgin I use a couple of hundred minutes and texts and upto 3.5gb of data a month, they offered me 4gb a month for £15 or 5gb for £17.and these had limited calls/texts.

I found unlimited text/calls and 4gb of data on a 12 month contract with 3 for £9 a month, plus a £50 cashback from Quidco, making them a lot better option than Virgin for me.

If you're in an area with decent 3G/4G coverage I'd recommend Three especially with the £50 cash back offer.

Might be worth trying out a free SIM in your phone first (assuming it's unlocked) to make sure coverage is suitable.

Having said that Three don't have any 2G coverage which is something to consider; sometimes there'll be areas which will use EE from the legacy Orange/Three mast sharing.

Might be wrong but I think that service is being slowly switched off?
It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.
