3 have a Unl Min, Unl Txt and 4GB for £9 a month. So £18 seems steep unless you cannot get a signal with 3 etc.

Doesn't seem so to me. You are paying more money per month to downgrade your storage capacity.
  • At the end of the day, only you can decide if spending more per month is worth it. I think the OP is foolish to scrap an existing contract early in order to tie themselves into another 2 year contract in order to buy on a two year finance deal, the most expensive iPhone yet offered.

Can you not stick with your existing phone, get it unlocked (if necessary) and go SIM only? Only replacing the phone when really needed?

I appreciate that we are bombarded with adverts for new phones at only £xx per month and cars for only £xxx per month. The winners are the networks/shops and someone has to pay for that, I guess there are people around who fall for it.

Don't forget that new phone at £xx per month ties you to a network for 2 years and a lot can change in 2 years...

Walk into an Apple store and get the phone on the iPhone payments plan. You'll pay the cost of the phone interest free over 20 months.

Send your old phone to a recycling service or sell on eBay.

Then when your current contract ends, call up Three and switch to a cheaper SIM only deal.

Buying the phone as part of a contract is very expensive, as in this MSE article http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/phones/2016/09/new-iPhone-7-interest-free-deal

Yes it's stupid to pay £75 to get one 3 months early !!!

Wait till Dec, when they will have ironed out the early bugs with the hardware.

I'd imagine you won't get any decent deals with Three U.K. at the moment as the device is still too new.

You might if you shop around.

Having a look around there are contracts out there for a "free" handset but the monthly line rental is a couple of pounds higher.

It depends if you'd wish to store music on your iPhone as/when you upgrade.

Whilst 32GB is much better than the previous offerings of 8/16GB I'd personally opt for the 128GB variant.

When the time comes to upgrade again you should receive more money *but* it depends if you're willing to fork out £129.99 upfront?
